Hmm. I didn't realize just how short this chapter really was. But I'll probably update again this weekend, if not today. (This story stemmed from a really boring camping trip that I'm on at the moment.

Enjoy, and review!

1987
"Camping is an essential part of the scouting experience," Henry paced back and forth in front of eight year olds, Shawn and Gus. "You will learn to hike, pitch a tent, and live off the land out in the wilderness."
Shawn raised his hand. "Sir, I have a question, sir."
"Yes, Shawn?" Henry asked wearily.
"Can we bring a radio?" Henry shot a look at his son. "Sir?"
"Now Shawn, what would you need a radio for out in the woods?"
Shawn smiled sheepishly. "The Yankees game is on tonight." Gus nodded emphatically in agreement.
"No. No, Shawn." Henry shook his head and sighed. "At ease, soldiers. Go pack. We're leaving in five."
Shawn and Gus ran back into the house.
"I hate camping," Shawn muttered under his breath.

"Camping, Gus! Just picture it," Shawn jumped on top of a desk and struck a pose, attempting to look like an explorer. "Wildlife, rough terrain, eating bugs! Gus, it would be fun!"
Gus stared at his best friend with a mixture of amusement and disgust. "No Shawn."
"Come on dude!" Shawn pleaded, jumping off the desk. "I'm begging you." He got down on his knees and bowed at Gus' feet. "Come with me to the annual Santa Barbara Police Department company camping trip. You know you want to."
"You only want to go because Juliet is going to be there," Gus crossed his arms across his chest, a smug expression on his face.
"While it is quite exciting that the junior detective will be there, that's not why I want to go," Shawn got to his feet. "Come on Gus, it'll be awesome."
Gus sighed. "Don't you have to have an invitation to get on the bus? I hardly think Lassiter will be giving us one."
Shawn pulled a slip of paper off the desk and waved it in Gus's face. "Lassieface may not be our biggest fan, however, lucky for us, Chief Vick is."
Gus stared at the invitation for a stunned moment, realizing there was no way to get out of this trip now. "What time do we leave?"
