Chapter 1: burying the bird
3rd person's pov
Skipper looked over the horizon. The sun was just setting behind the tall city buildings. He quickly casts his gaze downward to the ground. He see's Private standing in the middle of the road. He motions his flippers in a ready motion. Skipper nods his head in conformation. He looks to the left, and see's Rico standing by a pile of cardboard boxes. Skipper nods to him, and is acknowledged by a nod from Rico. He turns his head to where Kowalski was supposed to be, but finds him missing.
Skipper was surprised he wasn't there. He quickly glanced to the others, and used his flippers to say abort mission. They all gathered [minus Kowalski] in the alley way. "Why did we abandon the mission Skippa" Private asked concerned. "Kowalski's gone MIA" Skipper answered the naive boy. "Oh dear" Private said as fear overtook him. They then all heard a crash come from down the street.
They followed the sound as it grew louder. Then they jumped into position as a dark shadow showed on the wall. Then Marlene stepped out from behind one of the boxes while dusting her fur off. "Marlene" Skipper said upon seeing the female out of the zoo. "Oh hey Skipper" Marlene said as she looked over to him. "Marlene I thought you weren't allowed out of the zoo" Private asked confused.
"Oh yeah that well Kowalski's been working on this formula that lets me go outside without going crazy" Marlene said as she brushed her fur on the top of her head back. "Well what are you doing here" Private asked. "I was told to meet Kowalski here in 5 minutes" Marlene answered as she looked at the three penguins. "Well he's defiantly running late" Marlene said nervously.
Then they all heard shuffling from down the road. That was an odd thing to hear since it was night. They slowly headed toward the sound. It came from behind a dumpster. "Who's there" Marlene asked confused. Behind the dumpster came a sniffling sound. Marlene looked behind it, much to skipper's distaste, and saw Kowalski bent over to the ground. He looked like he was holding something.
"Kowalski" Marlene said confused. By the mention of his name the other three looked around the corner. Kowalski did not move when he was called on. "Kowalski what's the matter" Marlene asked. Kowalski now looked up to her. He had tears ranging along his eyes.
Marlene bent down to his height [on the ground]. Kowalski had his flippers tightly around something. Marlene went to move his flippers away from it, but Kowalski swatted her away. "Kowalski what is that" Marlene asked. She casted a confused look behind her to the guys. They seemed clueless as well. She looked back to Kowalski. He had his head down on that particular object. Marlene knew whatever it was sure caused him to be a wreck.
J: well that's all I got for now. What is that thing Kowalski's hiding? What will Marlene, Skipper, Private, and Rico do to help?
