Was walking in the shadows all she was good for now?
Just to be the living shadow behind Vera...
That was not the life that she wanted to live.
Why could no one see the talent that she had herself now?
They always called her weird and a freak while praising her sister
Her twin.
Even on those days when Vera was the only one she could turn to Chloe couldn't help but hate her.
Hate that perfect smile, her voice, her compassion. Everything.
Her mind was a whirling storm, calm only taking place when she heard the voice of her sister.
"Chloe...I want to open a parlor for you. So now everyone can see your talent the way I do."
Vera sounded nothing short of elated at this idea, something that ignited a fire in the other girl.
Chloe didn't want to owe Vera. To think of her sister everytime she walked into this place.
Everyone would no doubt visit out of pity and request by her sister.
Was this what Vera truly wanted? To make her feel even more pathetic?
Brown hues narrowed and her bottom lip drew back into a scowl.
"There's no way I'm going to give you any more power over me or reason to be praised." Chloe hissed, voice full of venom.
Vera recoiled, her own brown hues wide with shock and with a glimmer of hurt.
"I don't understand. I-I just wanted to help you, Chloe. I love you..." Her voice was full of sadness.
God, even now Vera sounded perfect. She even looked beautiful when she cried.
Oh, how Chloe both loved and hated her with every fiber of her being.
It was a cocktail of confusion that would intoxicate most anyone.
Her delicate hand dug into her purse, retrieving a knife she had brought just for this moment.
"Of course I want this but not from you! You'll just take all my credit and ideas for yourself!"
Chloe snarled the words out, pulling the knife out in a fluid motion so fast that Vera couldn't react.
The blade came down on the other females chest with a sickening squish.
Chloe couldn't help but let a hysterical bubble of laughter leave her as she realized what she had just done.
Vera was already beginning to sink to her knees on the ground with a whimper of both pain and fear.
"Why...? Chloe...Why?" Vera managed to choke out just before Chloe moved to the ground beside her.
Chloe moved a gloved hand to pull out the knife still sticking in her sisters chest.
"Why? Because I love you...and this is the only way I can keep loving you." Again she thrust the knife down,
halting the life of the very person who had loved her.
Another giggle filled the air, this one trailing off into a sob.
Could she live with this? She didn't know.
But wait...If she took over her sisters life she didn't have to.
She could be someone else. The girl everyone loved and wanted to be.
"Don't worry, Vera...I won't let you down. I will become better than even you could ever be."
