"I'm off to the hospital!" yelled a tall, dark skinned man with red eyes.
He just stepped out of the doorway when suddenly he heard heavy footsteps rushing towards him. He stopped in his place and grinned. Suddenly a woman with long wavy curls and white bangs appeared in front of him. A scar ran horizontally across her right sky blue iris.
"Hospital? Who's in the hospital? Is it serious? Do I need to come too? Will….."
"Abri, calm down." The man cooed.
The man placed his hinds on her thin shoulders.
"It's not anyone at Briggs."
Abrielle sighed in relief. Briggs had become her home and she cared about everyone here, especially Miles.
"I just heard what happened earlier with that monster. I was just worried that…"
Miles placed a finger gently to her lips, stopping her mid-sentence. Then he wrapped his arms around his wife. In return, she placed her arms around him.
"No one was seriously hurt Abri."
Abrielle gazed into her husband's face. Suddenly, she pulled herself up and stole a kiss from his lips. Miles. Her Miles. She pulled away from him and held his hands in her own.
"A man by the name of Kimblee. He was found on the back of a train with a metal rod through his gut."
A look of sheer horror ran across Abrielle's face. She threw Miles' hands away from her and placed them over her mouth.
"Kimblee? Here?"
Seeing the horror in her eyes, Miles wrapped his arms around Abrielle again and gently stroked her hair in an attempt to comfort her.
"I know what you're thinking Abri, but he can't hurt me here. Everything will be just fine."
Miles glanced down at her horrified face and spotted glimmers of light reflecting off of the tears that were forming on her eyes. He immediately held her closer to him.
"Abri, I don't know what you saw during the Ishval war, but I promise I'll be fine."
Abrielle glanced up at Miles' face. He suddenly pulled her up to his face and kissed her deeply. Once again they were arms distance apart, holding hands. Abrielle pulled her hand up to her face and wiped the tears from her eyes. She looked up into her husband's crimson eyes and smiled.
"Just be careful, ok?"
Miles nodded and placed his glasses over his eyes. He leaned over for one last kiss before he left. Then he walked out of the room. As the echo of the door slam traveled throughout the room, Abrielle fell to her knees, her hands to her face. Horrifying thoughts of the Ishval war ran through her head. The image of Kimblee brutally killing all in his path made her cringe. She could see the blood and hear the screams…..and that laugh, Kimblee's laugh. It echoed through her head as the most horrifying image appeared in her thoughts. Kimblee holding Miles to the ground, about to deal the final strike, then looking over at Abrielle with his piercing eyes and grinning that deranged smile, making sure she was watching him kill her love. Then, the final image hit. Kimblee striking Miles and laughing as Miles' lifeless body falls to the ground. Tears welled up in her eyes as she rocked back and forth.
"Please…..not him…..not again."
