Haunted
I don't own Uncharted...
I looked over at her as she walked up on that stage fierce determination was written on her face. Chloe didn't sing often so I was surprised she was about to. Checking the microphone she looked right at me. Elena had declined the invitation to come and for once I was happy she didn't show up because the look Chloe shot me made me hesitant.
Sure Chloe and I had had our fun but did she really love me. Her breathing increased as the music began to play a slow song, "You and I walk a fragile line. I have known it all this time." Sadness grew in her eyes as she looked at me directly in my eyes. "But I never thought I'd live to see it break. It's getting dark and it's all too quiet." The bar quieted to listen to her accented melody. "And I can't trust anything now. And it's coming over you like it's all a big mistake. Oh, holding my breath won't lose you again." There was conviction in her voice and shining in her eyes. Ripping the microphone from the stand she strutted forward to be at the end of stage.
"Something's made your eyes go cold. Come on, come on don't leave me like this. I thought I had you figured out." She shook her head tears welling in her eyes. I had never seen Chloe cry, was this my doing. "Something's gone terribly wrong. You're all I wanted. Come on, come on don't leave me like this." Her voice shook but she kept going the tears streaming down her face. It was my fault, regret welled up inside me. What had I done?
"I thought I had you figured out. Can't breathe whenever you're gone. Can't turn back now, I'm haunted. "She was haunted by my choice this was my fault. Elena wasn't the sassy strong beautiful goddess I knew as Chloe Frazer. Why was I with her? Looking up at her I saw her hair hanging in her face, expression one of pain. The solo ended and she continued, "Stood there and watched you walk away. From everything we had. But I still mean every word, I said to you. He will try to take away my pain." I cast a glance at Flynn the same time as he looked at me.
"And he might just make me smile." She looked at Flynn and lipped I'm sorry. He nodded and tipped his head to her. "But the whole time I'm wishing he was you instead. Oh, holding my breath won't see you again. Something keeps me holding on to nothing. Come on, come on don't leave me like this. I thought I had you figured out. Something's gone terribly wrong. You're all I wanted." She held out a hand to me beckoning. I smiled at her but didn't move. "Come on, come on don't leave me like this. I thought I had you figured out. Can't breathe whenever you're gone. Can't turn back now I'm haunted." I smiled and stood up she called me up with her had again. Joining her on the stage she looked up at me sharing a look before continuing the song. "I know, I know. I just know." I placed both hands on the sides of her face wiping away the tears. "You're not gone. You can't be gone. No!" Her crying picked up speed panic entering her voice. I had never seen her so weak before. I liked my strong Chloe. "Come on, come on don't leave me like this. I thought I had you figured out. Something's gone terribly wrong. Won't finish what you started. I thought I had you figured out. Can't breathe whenever you're gone. I can't go back, I'm haunted." Not anymore. "Oh!" As she sang the perfect clean notes I rubbed her face with my thumbs. A smile was on both of our faces. We would have a happy ending what was I thinking Elena had nothing on this badass girl here. "You and I walk a fragile line. I have known it all this time. But I never thought I'd live to see it break. Never thought I'd see it." She finished the song and let the microphone slip through her hands. I picked her up and kissed her. This was where I belonged, Chloe Frazer I was convinced would one day be Chloe Drake.
