Wrote this little drabble when I was bored out of my mind during the Christmas break.

I am a review junkie so all are welcome!

Pain.
That glorious feeling. It had all started as an accident. Her hand had grazed the hot ring on the cooker while cooking. She had immediately recoiled. That's what humans are programmed to do. Flinch away from the pain. People had said before that Temperance Brennan wasn't a normal human. Normal humans showed compassion and love, but she never could. She was cold...and the intense heat seemed to melt the ice. Bleeding made her feel...like a normal human.
Pain.
That is what she felt as she bandaged up her red, blistered arm. She just hoped Booth didn't notice. He had been looking at her strangely since the last case, like she was a porcelain doll that might shatter any moment, but porcelain dolls can't feel pain, and pain is what kept Temperance Brennan alive.
Pain.
That is what she felt when she thought of Special Agent Seeley Joseph Booth. She used to think about his warm brown eyes, or his kind, lion heart, but now all she could think about was his love for one Hannah Burley.
Pain.
That is what she felt when she thought about what she missed out in. How could she be so stupid? He was there, begging her to give them a chance, and she panicked. She screwed up and it was a mistake she could never fix.
Pain.
This is what drove Temperance Brennan to the edge. Those who told her she was incapable of feeling were wrong, she could feel pain, and she enjoyed it. Pain is what she felt as the blood poured from her wrists, in sync with the tears flowing down her face. But then she felt something else, something changed. She felt...numb.

And then everything went black.
