"I'm not going," Derek said sternly to Scott.
Scott had found Derek hiding in the old Hale house. After finding Derek, he had proposed a brilliant plan to the criminal he had made Derek. In order for Derek to stay out of prison, and for Scott to repay him for what he'd done, he'd proposed that Derek stay with Stiles.
Well, if Scott had thought Derek would jump up and down for joy, he was wrong. Derek had listed all the reasons not to go there. But then the brilliant Scott had to say that Stiles' father would never find out. He was the Sheriff for crying out loud!
"Why not?" Scott asked. Derek stared at him.
"Because that's the worst place to go. Not to mention the fact that if you'd never blamed me in the first place, we wouldn't have this problem!" Derek hissed.
"No, but what was I supposed to say? 'Oh, by the way, there's this huge wolf called the Alpha running loose all over town'? Then what would Allison's father think?" Scott hissed back. Derek shook his head.
"Not everything is about Allison. Right no, you should be focusing on how to stay safe and kill the Alpha. Then, you can focus on your relationships that I really don't care about!"
"But what if I am/ She's all I think about, Derek, and it's your fault that I'm even in this mess!"
"My fault? I wasn't the one to change you, Scott, we've been over this before!"
"We're off subject. Derek, it's not like you'll be there your entire life, just long enough for us to clear your name and kill the Alpha."
"Yeah, and how do you plan to do that?" Derek demanded. Scott's silent. "That's what I thought."
"Look, we'll figure that out later-"
Since when are you concerned of my safety."
"I don't have much of a choice, now do I?"
"No."
"Well."
That was how Derek had ended up at Stiles', remaining a secret from the sheriff and playing the role of Stiles' cousin. He wouldn't stay there long. Either him or Stiles would get tired of the façade and give it up. Derek would return to his home and Stiles could return to his…life.
But, for now, Derek sat in the corner of Stiles' room, flipping through the same book as Stiles and his nerd friend did something. He found it boring to listen to their talk, so he amused himself. He often stared at the carpet or the wall. Sometimes, he commented on Stiles' conversations to bug him. He had to have something to do.
He would find the Alpha, kill it, teach Scott, and maybe finally be left in peace after clearing his name. Maybe.
