beautiful girl, ugly world
by mistsplash
She's been working hard since day one, doing whatever she could to make it out on top. She has the looks, she knows that, and she uses that to her advantage. After all, who would deny a pretty young lady?
But then he comes along, and it's all wrong. He's beautiful, he's wonderful, he's sweet and kind but annoying and powerful. He doesn't have to work for everything. It seems like he can just lift a finger and a life will end; it seems like he can just show up and a life will be saved.
She hates him for this, she really does. Because he's so goddamn beautiful and she's just some unemployed little freak and she wants to stab him so very, very much.
She doesn't want to be him, though. She knows of the evil he's done; she knows of all the lives he's ended, all the nights he's gone around the town, having drunken sex, and she knows that no matter what she does, he will always be just a bit more tainted than she is.
Compared to him, she's pure. Maybe not the purest of souls, but she's better than him, at least. She knows that she's morally better than him, in nearly every sense, and for that, she can't help but thank him.
She loves him because he makes her feel pure, innocent, beautiful—even though she's so clearly not. Perhaps this is why she stays with him, but she's not too sure. She just knows that when it comes down to it, she's a million times better than him in—nearly—every way.
Author's Notes:
Eh. Not too sure about this pairing.
