When he left me that note saying the truth is complicated, little did I know that three years later I'd be holding him and screaming for him not to leave me again. I begged and pleaded, but still he left. This time more permanently. The only thing left I have of him is his shell bracelet, after I burned the note and later the pictures. I feel hollow and the only person that seems to understand is Auggie.

Weeks pass and I'm beginning to lose my numbness, and the emotion I'm becoming overwhelmed by is anger. I now spend hours in the gym beating on the punching bag. Picturing Ben lying to me again just makes me angrier. I never thought I'd hate Ben, even though it's twisted around the love. I look over as green dots herald Auggie's arrival. My mood lightens when he's around.

"Hey, Aug."

"So who are we beating up today Mike?"

"Just the usual. I'm trying to get it out of my system, so I can get back to work."

Auggie looks at me and says, "Want to talk about it?"

"It's just Ben. He lies to me three years ago, even if only by omission. Then he does it again and again. He used me, just like Joan and Arthur and Jai. He's almost gotten me killed twice. I don't know if I should stay or if I'm even cut out for this anymore."

Auggie is quiet for a few moments, reflecting on the pain and anger in her voice. "Well, you have two choices Annie. You can quit and walk away or you can use your emotion to make you a better agent. As long as you don't let the anger take control of you. You have to come to terms with why Joan, Arthur and Jai did what they did. You're a great agent Annie. It'd be a shame if you couldn't get past this."

Two months later

"Hey Aug, want to get drinks tonight to celebrate my return to the fold? My treat."

Auggie spins around in his chair to face me, "So you're back?"

A/N: Don't own, but I would like my own personal Auggie.

"Just cleared by the department psycho."

"As long as you drive."

Happy hour at Allen's works it's magic and I'm finally beginning to relax when Jai sits down next to me.

"I just wanted to welcome you back Annie, you've been missed." Jai pauses, waiting to hear a reply.
