Challenge Word: wall.
Word Count: 100 (for the first part, which is what counts).
A/N: Sam is fifteen, Dean is nineteen. John's on a hunt. Besides, we all know the boys probably got up to some shenanigans when dad was away. And then there's the second part, which is part of the story, but not, because I went over the word count (and didn't include the challenge word in that one). But it's here because it needed to be part of the story. Second part takes place Season Four-ish.
Summary: E/O Challenge: wall. Teen!chesters. --The Brothers Winchester get caught up in yet another violent situation. Years later, they remember...--
Four Walls
A shock of red bloomed across Dean's shoulder, and he slumped against the wall. Seconds became minutes, and Sam couldn't get to him fast enough. The old couple at the back of the diner stared in shock, cradling their young grandson between them.
The sound of the bullet echoed, Sam would later swear, for miles. Dean wouldn't remember much except that Sammy was okay.
Sam grabbed a dish towel, pressed it against the wound. Let out a panicked breath. "You're gonna be okay." Dean smiled, tugged at his sleeve.
And just as suddenly as it slowed, everything sped up.
(2008)
Dean slides easy into the dark red booth across from his brother. Peering around, eyes squinted, he can't quite recall a memory that he thinks should be important.
"Hey, Sam."
"Yeah?" He looks up from his coffee cup.
"This place look familiar to you?"
Dean feels uneasiness coil up his spine at the way Sam is looking around. Like he's seen... well, like he's a civilian who's seen a ghost. A muttered "we've been here before..." and Sam can't meet his eyes.
In an instant it's there, phantom pain making his shoulder ache. He rubs at the old wound without thinking.
"Yeah," he smiles, "knew it looked familiar."
