"Redheads are said to be children of the moon, thwarted by the sun and addicted to sex and sugar."- Tom Robbins

((A/N- First and foremost, I must stress that this is written for pure, unadulterated fun. Intended to be silly, ridiculous, and light. Some drama for pizzazz, but nothing major. If you're looking for a heavy plot, deep character development, insightful twists- just look somewhere else. If you're interested in a fun, funny, fast-paced read, carry on. Reviews are, of course, most welcome. My goal is to entertain, so please, help me to help you! =D Let me know what you like, dislike, and hell, let me know what you would like to see in the future and I'll try to work that in, too!

Written in the good ol' lighthearted style of Season 1, pre-angel/demon apocalypse, no real spoilers unless you've not seen Supernatural at all. Set some time in season 2 before the shit hits the fan. I don't own any bit of Supernatural, but Marley and all OCs are mine, as is the plot which is based on a local legend in my hometown that I took to a whole new level. If this goes well, I might make a whole series of these things, because I have several different ridiculous ideas.

Enjoy! ))

San Antonio, TX

It was a warm, sticky night, and the air was full of singing cicadas and crickets. As the city of San Antonio disappeared among the trees, the car full of young professionals turned their music up louder and rolled the windows down, laughing loudly.

"I can't believe you've never heard of the Donkey Lady!" the guy who was driving said to the girl next to him. She looked less amused than the others and reached forward to turn the music down. "How can you grow up around here and not know about it?!"

She shrugged and looked out the window, replying, "I guess my parents didn't hold with such nonsense." There were about a million other things she could think of that she would rather be doing on a Friday night than driving out to some old bridge to investigate a crap legend.

"Ahhh, don't be such a spoil sport, Marissa," Justin replied.

"Marissa's just scared," a girl perched on a guy's lap in the backseat piped in.

"I'm not scared, Jen" Marissa insisted, "But I think it's stupid to go looking for something that's dangerous."

This elicited several hoots of laughter from her friends, so Marissa just rolled her eyes and settled into the front seat with her arms crossed.

"Hey, it's not dangerous. It's just a cool legend," Justin said quietly, resting a hand on her arm. Marissa shrugged him off, because the truth was, she was scared.

"Alright, here we are," Justin announced suddenly, slowing the car as the headlights illuminated the quaint little stone bridge before them. In day time, the area would have been lush and serene, but at night, it was downright creepy. Even with a full moon washing everything in a silvery light, the natural setting was dark and secluded. The river itself looked black with slivers of moonlight reflecting off the surface every now and then. Justin pulled off the side of the road and parked the car, and all four of them piled out.

"Kinda nice, actually," Jen commented. "Don't ya think, Chris?"

Her boyfriend ignored her. "Hey, Justin, honk the horn. That's how you're supposed to attract her."

Justin leaned in through the driver's side window and beeped the horn a few times. All four of them stood still and quiet, waiting. Nothing happened.

"Let's go down to the river," Justin suggested, and he took off first. Marissa grabbed at his hand.

"No! There could be snakes down there!" she whined. Justin grinned.

"I'm not worried about snakes. Come on."

They picked their way down to the river side, and Chris pulled out his phone and opened up his flashlight ap. Justin did the same. The river was dark and quiet, almost tranquil. The water gurgled soothingly over rocks, the sound echoing under the bridge.

"Man, this would be a great place to go camping," Justin commented, looking under the bridge.

"Guys, check this out!" Chris called excitedly, and they all hurried over to where he was standing near the river, LED light aimed at the bank near his feet. Harshly illuminated in the bluish white light of the phone was a single, fairly distinct, hoof print. "The Donkey Lady, man," Chris said with a grin.

A rustle in the bushes off to their left made Marissa squeak and clutch Justin's arm. "Let's just go, okay?" she whispered hurriedly. Before anybody could respond, they heard it, echoing faintly under the bridge at first, and then steadily growing louder.

Clip-clop. Clip-clop. Clip-clop.

The beat was unsteady, like the creature making it had a limp or something.

Clip-clop. Clip-Clop.

The girls bolted, racing back towards the car, and the guys followed. Bushes were stomped on, tree branches slung out of the way, and finally, panting and sweaty, they reached the car. Justin mashed the button unlocking it, and all of them crammed inside, slamming the doors shut. Silence filled the inside of the car, disturbed only by their uneven breathing.

"Where's Chris?!" Jen asked suddenly, and both Justin and Marissa turned to see that they were one short.

Justin swore under his breath and opened the car door.

"No!" Marissa pleaded, but he ignored her, stepping out of the car.

"Chris! Hey Chris!" Justin called.

"Shhhhhhh!" Marissa and Jen hushed. Again, Justin ignored them.

"Chris, man, this isn't funny! Let's go!"

When nobody replied, Justin started to walk back towards the bank. "Dude, I swear to God, stop messing around. Let's get out of here, the girls are freaked!" Justin growled, slipping his way back down towards the river. Even he was beginning to feel creeped out. The hairs on the back of his neck were prickling, like he was being watched. "CHRIS! HEY CHRIS!" Justin shouted, more to dispel his nerves than anything.

Suddenly, he tripped over something and went sprawling forward into the mud. He cursed loudly pushing himself to his feet and attempting to dust himself off. Irritated, he turned to kick whatever lousy object had gotten under his feet when he saw the jeans. Bathed in the bright, silvery moonlight, Chris lay sprawled in the grass, his neck twisted at an impossible angle and his face completely caved in. Blood was everywhere, seeping out of his crushed skull and into the grass and mud around him. Justin screamed and looked up to find a pair of burning eyes staring back. He screamed again.
