They sat on the Light Tower together, it was a warm, sunny afternoon, there was a slight breeze in the air. Zelda decided to break the silence.
"So...have you been to the Lumpy Pumpkin recently?"
"Yes," Replied Link, "I went there yesterday, actually. I was delivering Pumpkin Soup to the Sparring Hall,"
Zelda sighed,
"They still haven't forgiven you for breaking their chandelier, have they..."
"Mmm, someday." He said, his thoughts elsewhere.
Zelda got up, and looked out across the sky, closing her eyes, letting the warm sunshine sink into her cheeks. Link looked at her and stood up, he walked over to her, took her hand and turned her around. They stared into each other's eyes, their faces only inches apart, they'd alway been friend's but after Link had rescued Zelda, things had seemed different, they seemed closer than before. Link had always had a crush on Zelda, and she kind suspected it, though she never said anything. Zelda slowly put her arms around Links neck, and leaned closer, then, out of nowhere, she reached her fingers until they touched the bottom of Links hat, and pulled it off, she giggled and started running off with it. Link knew if he ever wanted his hat back, he'd have to first chase her, probably around all of Skyloft!
She slid down the ladders, and hit the ground with a thump, but she quickly recovered and started running again, Link wasn't far behind, Oh no, He thought, She's heading towards the diving platform, this is going to get interesting! She jumped, soon he heard a deafening whistle, and saw her rise up on her loftwing. He sprinted off the platform and called his loftwing, he was soon caught in midair, and flew up towards Zelda.
She waited until he was flying about ten yards directly beneath her, she told her loftwing to go on ahead, and she dived.
"Zelda! What are you doing!"
He yelled as she fell, luckily she had timed it just right, so she fell into Link's arms, he turned cherry red, and she giggled He looks so cute when he blushes She thought,
"I came to give you back your hat," she said, and gently placed it back on his head, he smiled down at her,
"Thanks".
When they returned to Skyloft, they realized how long they'd been gone. The sun was slowly dipping into the horizon, giving off the last of it's afternoon heat. Link hopped off and offered her his hand, she took it, blushing, and placed her delicate feet on the ground.
They walked, hand in hand, down towards a large tree near the lake, enjoying the pleasant shade and looking over the rippling water, then at the town, it looked stained with afternoon sun. She looked up and saw Link staring at her, she blushed and looked away, but Link took her face in his hands, and looked in her deep blue eyes, he leaned in and gently rested his lips on hers, her eyes widened, but then she relaxed, she felt every part of her body lighten with happiness, she'd waited so long for this. She closed her eyes and placed her arms around his neck, he wrapped his arms around her waist, and they stood there in pure happiness until the sun had crept out of sight.
Link whispered "Maybe we should go back to the academy"
"Ya" She whispered back, "Maybe that would be best." So, with his arm around her, protecting her from the cold, they walked back to Zelda's room, where Link kissed her goodnight, and left her to her sweet dreams.
