"Soooo?" John rocked back on his heels and took in the look of pure bliss on Rodney's face. "Pretty good, huh?"
"Good!" Reaching out, Rodney snatched another morsal of green delight from the bowl and added it to his already over-stuffed mouth. "Where did you get this? Is there anymore? Better still, what did you have to trade to get it?"
"Leevus, lots more, and you don't want to know." Shepherd was as pleased as punch. Rodney's reaction was perfect, his questions predictable, and the expression? No need for Master Cards here, but the term 'priceless' came to mind. "There is one problem though."
Rodney stopped mid chew and looked up, his hand poised over the bowl. "Isn't that normally my line?"
"I'm borrowing it," John said pulling the bowl away out of reach. "Green it is, creamy rich chocolate it tastes like, lots of it… well, you could say that."
"And? The problem is?"
"Once harvested…"
"Harvested?" Rodney looked at the bowl and frowned. "Are we talking animal or vegetable here, 'cause the thought of something so delicious and desserty coming from a-,"
"McKay!"
"What?" Rodney blinked.
"Rambling."
"Oh!"
"Anyway, as I was saying before you…"
"Rambled?"
"Right. Once it's been harvested, and I'm talking plant here, it has a half-life of a few hours."
Rodney pensively tapped a finger on his chin, and pointing it in the air declared, "Simple, we refrigerate it, plenty of room in the commissary cold room; I mean, how big can it be?"
John held his hand just above his head, wiggled his fingers, and smiled lopsidedly.
"That big, huh?"
"And obvious."
"Oh, we sooo can't be sharing this."
"Nope." John picked up the bowl and held it under Rodney's nose, ignoring the blissful moan Rodney couldn't hold back. "So… I've got an intact pod hidden in the jumper about to go bad in about… ohh, an hour, give or take."
Reaching out to take another morsal, but pulling back at the last moment, Rodney spun away and started pacing. "Breaking it up wont work, still too hard to keep away from sticky fingers." Spinning to face Shepherd, fingers clicking rapidly in the air, Rodney's face lit up. "The Ancient sleep chamber!"
"You're kidding, right?"
"Nope. It's perfect. I can cover the power utilization in the logs. Doesn't drain that much anyway, and we just take what we want when we want it."
John's voice took on a wary tone. "I don't think this is what the Ancients intended it to be used for."
"I don't see them standing here complaining."
John shrugged. "Guess not. Works for me."
