I Freed Croatia!

Summary: "She married someone else." "What did you do?" "I freed Croatia!"

Disclaimer: I don't own Leverage, but I wish I did…

"Eliot… You know that this is never going to work," she said, leaning her back against a wall, looking at the man standing in her kitchen.

"What are you doing?"

"I told you it isn't going to work, Eliot! You just come and go all you want. Get out of here, I have wedding to get ready for," she said, turning away from him. Eliot stood silently for a moment and then turned for the door. Once he stepped through, he thought he'd never come back.

For weeks Eliot Spencer found himself wandering from town to town, replaying the situation in his head. Finally he came to New York where he found himself staring down the barrel of a gun from an old friend. The old friend pushed him onto a plane and as he stared down at the sea on his trip, he thought over what had happened again and again. Nothing had gone right.

She had married some bum. Eliot found himself hoping to hear that she had dumped the bastard and would come to him. But what was he expecting? He had already left. There was nothing left for him back there. Nothing would get him to ever go back, nothing…

When the plane landed, Eliot was surprised to find himself standing in a warzone.

"Where in the hell are we?"

"Croatia, my friend," the man said, laughing and throwing him a uniform.

"W-Wait, Croatia?"

"She married someone else," he said, looking at his feet.

Hardison stared for a moment, unsure of what to really say. He let out a little noise and looked at him.

"What did you do?"

He only asked because it was Eliot! Seriously, he probably could have killed whoever it was. Instead Hardison was amazed at his response.

"I freed Croatia!"

She married some other loser and he was sorry to say that he was forced to go back and face the fact that he lost her, and nothing he could do could ever take back those moments.

But, hey.

Worked out in the end for Croatia!

- Wrote this a few days after watching "The Wedding Job." Loved it but was dry for ideas on what to write. (Love Leverage, will be destroyed if it ever gets taken off the air...) I just loved the line from Eliot to Hardison so I ran with it. In the end, I forgot the girl's name, and decided I was too lazy to go look it up. Anywho, thanks for reading!
