CINNA
"There it is girls, our ticket back to America. The Unsinkable Ship."
I carried my little sister as I rushed to keep up with my father. Just like he said, the Titanic was big and amazing. We hurried past carriages and waving people to the loading bridge where we had to show our passports and tickets to authenticate our citizenship.
I was a little embarrassed to see all the young women all prim and proper compared to my old dress I was wearing with my boots. But when you think about it, being a lady is overrated. Why should a woman be expected to sit there and look pretty while never knowing how to defend or take care of herself. I know for a fact that we aren't all porcelain dolls for our mothers to play dress up with like men prefer us to be. I scoffed at the very thought. I could beat half the boys my age that I knew in arm wrestling.
That's what set me apart from a 'proper lady.' it made me even lower than 'new money' on the social scale. New money meant someone who had recently came into money, like Mrs. Brown who's husband struck gold. I met her while she was waiting for her luggage. She loved to talk, and I could tell she wanted to fit in so she wouldn't to be embarrassed to be newly wealthy, American woman without any legitimate training in etiquette.
I knew to be polite as have manners, but I didn't see the value of using more than one fork to eat different things. My father was the same. He accepts that we don't have a mama to teach us girls these things, however he also thinks that walking around without the ability to breath is ridiculous. So he taught us to be independent and to survive on our own If we needed to.
The only reason we had the opportunity to get on get on the Titanic was because of the money sent to us from family members back in the States.
My name is Cinna because my mother loved Shakespeare. I wasn't named after Cinna the conspirator who helped kill Caesar, but Cinna the poet who died because of his name. My little sister's name is Juliet. I remember Mama's favorite was Romeo and Juliet. I used to scold the story, saying that I would never understand why a 15 and 14 year old would kill themselves over one another. She would say " Love is blind."
To which I would reply." If love is blind, then how is there love at first sight?"
And she would just laugh and laugh. I missed her laugh.

I sat there and listened as Mother went on and on, gossiping to the other women. All I could do was stare blankly out the window to see what I could see. Water, water, oh and water. I tried to suppress a sigh, but I came before I could stop it so I tried to make it silent. But Mother's hawk-like hearing gave me away.
"Don't be rude." she hissed.
I nodded and apologized and went back to staring out the window when I noticed a young girl rushing by with her long brown hair flying around behind her. I stood up bowing my head a bit.
"Ladies, if you'll excuse me."
They nodded and went back to talking. I followed the running girl through the windows and found a door. I opened it quickly and expected to see her going but instead I felt a hard smack into the door.
CINNA
I had to chase Juliet down the deck as she followed the dolphins.
"Juliet Marie Smith! Get back here no-" Out of nowhere before I have time to think, a door opens and I run smack dab into it.
Ok so that was my first attempt. Idk if I'm going to add Rose or Jack in any chapters but I hope you like this sample so far please review or alert if you liked it.
