The Will of the Empress
- Everyone felt better after hot baths and clean clothes.
Will thought, especially after a mission like the one I just had.
He opened that door to the cabin, picking up the mail as he did so, reading who each one was from as he went inside.
He grinned as he saw one from Alyss and the frowned. Will knew that he would have to read all of the others and answer them before be could even break the seal open on hers.
With a sigh of frustration, Will dumped his saddle bags down and went to have a shower.
Half an hour later, he came out again and made himself dinner.
Will gave up on trying to read everything else. His reason? He would just be distracted until he did.
He opened the letter from Alyss and froze.
It was covered in blood.
There are other short stories like this being posted up by me... I prefer the Abhorsen but you know...
