A Friend in Need

Summary: Sofia was in denial. Cedric wouldn't just betray her again. Would he? A companion story to In Cedric We Trust.

"Mr. Cedric wouldn't do something like this."

Denial. Hurt. Betrayal. Sadness.

If you could just glance at Sofia's face at that moment while her father and mentor were arguing during a discussion Roland had decided that her ears didn't need to hear, you would've seen those feelings scattered about.

Cedric was her friend. There was no way he would betray her again. He already did it once.

And once was enough to give him a second chance. Twice? There was no way to be sure as Sofia knew in her heart that Cedric would NEVER steal the crown of Snow White's wicked stepmother on purpose, let alone having Wormwood do his dirty work.

Wormwood. That name had left her disgusted lately, oftentimes leaving a taste in her mouth that made her sick.

She knew never to make friends with that raven.

But if he was getting Cedric framed while getting away scot free, Sofia was starting to get a little angry, her hands curled into fists.

"Mr. Cedric didn't do it!"

Sofia saw her father and Cedric give her a look upon hearing her scream of furry and her eyebrows narrowed in hatred.

Roland was about to speak before Sofia had put up a hand. She hated herself for being disobedient to her father but she had enough.

He always blamed her best friend for everything. Yes Roland was the king but even kings shouldn't just accuse a person of a newer action even after knowing how hard they grew up.

In fact, Roland should've known better as Sofia walked over to them and took Cedric's gloved hand.

"Sofia?" Cedric asked in anguish, hoping that she wasn't upset with him again.

Sofia's look of fury changed to a small smile as she took one last glance at her father.

"Dad, don't fire Mr. Cedric yet. I'm not sure how long it'll take but I will help Mr. Cedric and I will find out who is the true one responsible. He's my friend and a friend would never betray me twice."

Cedric felt touched by her words, glancing at Roland who sighed and wished Sofia luck.
