The End/Beginning
The man leaned back in his chair, slowly rocking back and forth, pondering the events of the last several months. His heart sank as he thought of it. How could have something so great ended so horrifically? He lifted his hand to wipe away the dampness on his cheeks, but it did not stop the tears from freely flowing. Now, the man was not used to showing his emotions as reflected by the pins on his uniform, but today he could not control the wave of sadness that had overcome him. He had never felt an emotion so strong before, felt a feeling so captivating that he wanted to drown in it. His grandfather had been the emotional one, not him. Not Iroh. He was the United Forces' commanding general after all. He had been trained with tough love and extensive firebending, shaped into a man the Fire Nation would be proud of. And as much as he loved his nation, he could not help resent the fact they could not forgive his single mistake. Love.
