Another original Thomas story by Samantha613, this time it's "Percy's Signs" Enjoy and comment.
Percy now has trouble reading signs, and it's up to James to give him advice.
One sunny day on the Island of Sodor, Percy was interested in reading signs that were all over Sodor. He wanted to read the signs and understand what they said.
However, he was having a difficult time reading the signs.
"I just don't know what the signs read. I'll never get this.", Percy says sadly.
That night at Tidmouth sheds, Percy was ready to sleep, when his friend James puffed in.
"Is everything okay, Percy?" asked James
"I can't read signs. I try to read them, but I don't know what they say.", Percy said to James.
"Percy, it's okay if you don't know what the signs say.", James said.
"No, it's not. I don't know what to do anymore. I was trying to read the signs, but I don't know what they mean."
"Why don't you try looking at the sign and think about what they look like or say. It could give an idea on what they represent when you read them.", suggested James.
Percy thought about this.
"That sounds like a good idea, James. I'll try it.", Percy said.
The next day, Percy looked around at some signs and thought about what James said.
He came across one. It looked like railroad sign. Percy looked at it.
"I think this sign reads something. I wonder what it is."
The sign showed a railroad and a crossing. He knew what a railroad was and he knew what a crossing was. He then connected it together.
"A railroad and a crossing. It's a ... a railroad crossing." , Percy answered.
He knew he got it right.
"This sign reads that it's a railroad crossing. I know what it says!", Percy said in a happy tone.
Percy was happy he got to know what a sign said.
At Tidmouth Sheds, he went to see James.
"James, I read a sign today. I looked at the sign, read what it said and looked like and then connected it together to get what it said.", Percy said.
"That's great news, Percy. You know how to read signs from the advice I gave you. It's a good start on how to know new things.", James said to Percy.
"I know, James. It's good to know that I'm learning new things that I've always wanted to know about like reading signs and other things.", Percy said.
Percy knew that reading signs was another thing that he would get right like other things that he tries like knowing new words, saying them, and reading signs also. Percy would know everything he tried out to learn everything he could on the Island of Sodor.
