"Whispers"
Whispers of silk, breathing the pain,
Of the lost and the lonely.
The stream by the pastures, when I
Was a child, riding, laughing, sunshine.
The smell of strawberries in the summer,
Bursting red, dewy sparkles lit up my eyes.
Childhood fading, sunshine shadowed
Strawberries are dull, rusty, tasteless
I blink once, twice, offered the chance
Invited to the trade, the sunshine warms.
My heart flutters, my first test
Resist, my whole life resisting.
Expanse of black, littered with stars
Stars I cannot buy, light I cannot love.
The sun and strawberries came again,
But was gone in an instant, I was lost.
His smile enchants me, his eyes haunt me
I look away from the stars, and I say goodbye.
