The first of a number of snapshots I though about while plotting another One Piece x Harry Potter crossover.

It's not really a crossover I guess, more of a blender really. The first character is James, because there is simply too much James hate and not enough James love that does not include pairings.

Chapter 1: honor to serve

James Potter is the son of a long line of distinguished marine officers. His parents are old, older then people usually are when they have children and he grows up sitting next to his father on the comfy sofa and listening to his exploits as a marine vice admiral.

James never knew about the nights his mother spend alone in the big house waiting for news, any news, of how her husband was doing. His father retired years before he was born.

So when he reaches the age required for enlistment he does not hesitate for a second. They take him with open arms and the training begins. His lineage gives him nothing but higher expectations and where others in his position would falter - James flourishes. He graduates early, but by the time he does, age as caught up with his parents and there is only James left.

He learns fast, oh so very fast, and expectations are rising higher and higher. He wins his battles and brings home victories for the marines. Combined with his charming grin and good looks he is the perfect picture marine.

James Potter learns very fast and he is promoted just as fast. He raises through the ranks and he learns techniques without missing a beat. The government tell him it's an honor when he receives his newest promotion. A promotion to a special unit.

He is CP9, simply because he can, because he is just that good and there is no family to tell him otherwise.

But he was too good, he learned too fast, did not forget about the ideal of justice fast enough.

So when he looks down on the little girl, the demon of Ohara, who looks at him with wide terrified eyes, he remembers justice and morals not duty. His smile is kind as he grasp the little girls arm and pulls her behind her.

James Potter was a good man and an exceptional fighter but it did not necessarily make him a good soldier.

In the end it's not the girl he fights. CP9 looses a five man cell and Nico Robin is on the run still.

On the ground James lies slowly bleeding to death and wondering just what the ideal of Justice the marines preach about is.

I hope you liked it. There might be more, but for now it's just this one.
