Prologue
Warning blares in the crystalline ship.
The odd jagged crystal structure bleeds out blue flames in the emptiness of space.
Its captain, a grotesque structure of flesh and bone bounded to the floor stood within. Its tentacles hastily plugging and unplugging themselves to the surrounding fleshy walls.
[Warning! Hull integrity at 60%.]
Explosions rocks the crystal ship.
[Warning! Leaking G-element storage at sector B1.]
The captain sends out a psychic call. Small pockets of drones throughout the ship echoes back, but none are responding from within B1.
Another much larger explosion rocks the ship. Their shockwaves causing several sacs of the fleshy wall to burst and spill their blue fluid onto the floor.
[Warning! Sensory equipment d%wn.]
The captain quickly unplugs and plugs in several tentacles to the communications, calling nearby drones to repair.
A group of ferry drones responds and are sent to the area. Their larger claws quickly gathering materials to the damaged sector of the ship. Meanwhile small laser drones at the cargo hold rose up from their long slumber, going to reactor to refuel before joining up with the repair group.
[Warning! High power lines exp%sure det #ted.]
Tentacles quickly plugs in. [Exposure detec#ed in sector A3, B1, a$d FTL engi# .]
[Repair team sending in report.] A tentacle switches ports.
[Emer$%cy hull rep&*#s successful. Wel-]
Multiple detonations suddenly rocked the ship.
[Warning! FTL #ngine activation detected.]
The captain quickly plugs in a tentacle to send out the deactivation code.
[Deactivation code not received. Co$%unication line dam%#ed. Please repair Communications line in area T5.]
[FTL engine activated. No course he #ing set. Plotting random course.]
[W rning! No FTL Sensor det$cted. FTL engine will not stop to evade impact.]
If the fleshy stump could feel fear, its blood would run cold.
But it wouldn't.
It couldn't.
Because the captain and the drones alike are not part of the living.
The flesh and bones are not made by the evolution of life, but of the machinations of a long forgotten race.
And so when their FLT engines started to jolt wildly.
The captain and the drones did not stop to contemplate their existences or death after life. But continue their endless work just as their masters programmed to.
AN: How did go? As there is no information I can find on the spaceships of the BETA from both the VN trilogy and the wiki, I kinda had to think out something.
Any ways, this my first fanfiction. Any criticism would be helpful.
