Sasha sat in front of his computer, loading the disc he'd received from Kim. He had been surprised when it came in the mail along with a note about how he needed to see it. He had scoffed when the titled announced it as a meet with Pinewood; his girls could destroy Pinewood on their worst day. And was that Darby Conrad coaching them? No wonder Payson didn't look happy.

He waited as the girls bobbled on the beam, Payson nearly falling off. Then they pushed through their floor routines with Lauren stepping out of bounds and Stacey falling on not just one, but two tumbling passes. Multiple sloppy bar routines led up to Emily's belly flop dismount. By the time they hit the vault, Sasha was ready to rip his hair out; what a mess! After the others hopped and took giant steps on their landings, Payson stepped up to the runway, looking determined.

Sasha frowned as Darby approached the girl. He couldn't hear her words, but the look on Payson's face was enough to make his hands tighten into fists. What could she have said to put that fear in his gymnast's eyes?

"No," he mumbled, seeing Payson talking herself up, preparing for the run.

She went up on tiptoes, then sprinted down the path, launching herself off of the vault and through the air.

"No!" he shouted at the screen as she rolled through the difficult power move.

"Dammit!" he yelled when she landed on her back. "That stupid bitch! What kind of worthless, piece of shit coach are you? You led them to disaster! You're lucky she's not hurt!"

He paced the room, running his hands over his face and through his hair. "They'll never make World's with her. Dammit! We've worked too hard..."

But how could he go back? After the way he'd left; he'd be lucky if they even wanted to see him again, let alone return him to a coaching position. Even Payson. Especially Payson. He hated himself for leaving her. How could she ever forgive him?

Sighing, he turned off the computer and headed to the pub. He could never go back, and besides his shift would start soon.

The End.
