"I have something to tell you."

"I-"

"Please! There is something that I've hidden from you for a long time, and I can't stand keeping it a secret anymore. I've lied to you, a lot. It's alright if you don't feel like you can trust me anymore, but please believe this, if nothing else: I would never harm you, or any citizen of Camelot. I've had to deal with this my whole life. I was born like this, with no choice. I've been in constant fear my entire life, trying to hide from everyone I loved. Pretending to have the opposite opinion was one of the most painful things I've ever had to do, but it was the only way to survive. I haven't told you because...well, I wanted to protect you. I know we don't say these sorts of things, but you're my best friend, my brother really. I'd gladly die in your place. For the longest time I haven't said a word, afraid to see you hate me for who I am. But now things could be changing, so I thought-"

"What is it?"

His hands trembled as he forced himself to stop and breathe. Suddenly, tears started at his eyes, but he blinked them away hastily.

"I-I'm a sorcerer."

The incredulous look on his friend's face spurred him to action.

"No, really I am, watch!"

Extending his hand, he murmured a spell. The fire that now danced in his palm was in stark contrast to the blue eyes of his friend, who appeared to have lost his usual taste for banter. His mouth hung open, causing him to resemble a fish.

"I know you must hate me, and that's okay, but you have to understand that I couldn't change anything before, but now I can and I will and I was afraid and-"

Merlin held up his hand, stopping Arthur's ramblings. A grin spread like a sunrise across his pale face as he looked in his friend's eyes.

"Hey, it's okay. Better than okay, actually. I have something to tell you, too."
