"Fitz, the probability for such a thing to exist is extremely unlikely-"

"Ah but not impossible!" Simmons rolls her eyes and throws her hands up in exasperation the way Fitz's Aunt Matilda does when she's had one too many at the Fitz family Christmas celebrations.

"Fitz you're suggesting some sort of drug which would increase dopamine levels and bring on a rush Oxytocin, that alone would be difficult but to focus it one specific person…" Simmons trails off as if pondering the idea itself before shaking her head once more,

"You never know how far things could advance Simmons," Fitz points out, "Pretty sure many discoveries of today were declared impossible in the past." Simmons tilts her head to the side and gives him not what he would describe as a pleasant look.

"Fine then Fitz, for arguments sake lets say a so-called 'Love Potion' could exist. What kind of good could ever come from it?" Fitz frowns and taps his hands on the Lab work bench,

"Last minute divorce prevention?" He tries but Simmons isn't buying it.

"What on earth would you want with a love potion Fitz?" Her partner all of a sudden becomes very interested in loose thread on his blue jumper,

"Don't know, would be nice to have the option though. You could make anyone fall in love with you." Simmons tries not look put off by that, because for some reason that even her brilliant mind can't understand just yet, the idea of Fitz being in love with someone else gives her a strange pinching feeling in her stomach. Which is absurd because he's her partner, co-worker and best friend.

Nothing more.

She tries to pretend that's true as she opens her mouth to ask him the all-important question,

"So if you did have this love potion, and you could use it on anyone who would it be?"

Fitz slowly takes a few steps in her direction whilst a far-away expression makes its way onto his features, showing he's thinking hard on her proposition. Simmons holds her breath, unknowingly waiting for a specific answer but utterly afraid he won't give it to her.

"Definitely Tony Stark," Fitz replies after a few moments and a grin breaks out across his face. Simmons can't help but laugh and throws a plastic glove at his face which he catches without blinking. Fitz nudges her shoulder and passes the glove back to her, that ridiculous grin of his still ever-present. She grabs the paperwork that they were supposed to be doing and holds it out to him, his expression disappears but is replaced by something more subtle and more special. So maybe he didn't give her the answer she wanted, but as he continues to give her that small smile that only she is privy to, Jemma thinks that maybe the truth was there all along and didn't need saying at all.
