One day, Jason, Percy, Leo, and Frank were sitting in the dining pavilion eating their lunch at a table at Camp Half-Blood, and Percy said, "What is love more lasting than?"
The others were quite surprised at the direction he had headed in, Percy had seemed a little bit distant lately, but they had dismissed it as boredom. There had been few quests this year, and they were all feeling it.
Leo piped up, "Well if you want my opinion, it is more lasting than the fire. Fire will always let you down, even though it will warm you when you need to be comforted, it can burn you. My mother died in a fire when I was young, so I know that even though you may be burned on the inside, love will last, it will pull you out of the fire."
Jason nodded and looked thoughtfully at Leo, he was always the one to joke around, but this showed a different side to him. Feeling emboldened, he said, biting his lip, "It is more lasting than a storm, when you are in a fix, it will always prove true."
Percy nodded, "Frank, what about you?"
Frank thought for a moment and then looked up and said, peering into the distance, "Love is more durable than the dark, when you are so overwhelmed by your own thoughts and feelings, love is like a light, shining into the deep corners and showing you the way." He nodded, as if pleased with himself, and then asked of Percy, "Why do you ask?"
Percy sighed and then said, "I am thinking of proposing to Annabeth, I was thinking last night, 'what if one of us goes on a quest and doesn't come back?', then I was like, 'no, love is more lasting than death.'."
Frank nodded, "That is good."
Leo frowned, "What do you mean 'that is good?'" He shook his head, "It wouldn't be good if Percy never came back, you imbecile!"
Frank laughed and said, "No, that isn't what I meant, I was saying that it is good that Percy isn't getting cocky, after all, there are several things that I can think of that he couldn't possibly defeat. Tartarus, for example."
Leo nodded in understanding, "Ok. Phew, you have got to be glad that I don't have the notion to light myself on fire, dude."
Percy and Jason laughed, Leo grumbled under his breath and Frank thought he heard the words, "Literal donkey…."
After they had finished their meal, they went off to the rock wall for a while. Percy said, "Well, if Tartarus is the next baddie that I have to fight, I gotta be ready for it right?"
Frank just rolled his eyes and followed.
(A/N): Hey there guys! This was a project that I had for school and I thought that I would post it on here as well, I might add other parts to it in the form of chapters later but for now this is just a one-shot, I hope you liked it!
