Song For The Chapter: Someday My Prince Will Come - Barbra Streisand.

"I look ridiculous" Alice groaned and gingerly patted the hat, which was perched at a angle on her head. The Hatter turned and raised his eyebrows taking in her appearance.
"My dear, please don't touch the hat, and the only ridiculous idea is that YOU look ridiculous. You look beautiful" he said and returned his gaze to the desk. Alice blushed gently and looked at her beloved.
He was carefully fixing an old bowler hat, his quick precise fingers working nimbly around the brim. She smiled privately and looked out of the window. She and the Hatter had been graciously given a floor at the top of the White Queen's castle and they had spent most of the time in the workshop.
She looked out at the rich colours of Wonderland and saw a friendly sight past in her vision.
"Tarrant look! It's the Bayard" Alice said and pointed at the small figure, which was walking up towards the drive.
"Oh yes!" the Hatter cried appearing behind her and waving towards the small bloodhound. "Bayard! Yoo-hoo!" he waved and Alice giggled.
"He looks so confused" Alice said and leaned back into the Hatter's chest. His arms circled her and kissed the base of her skull.
"You know my dear, your right. This hat is utterly ridiculous" Hatter muttered and started to gently untangle her hair from the hat's complex structure.
"Why?" Alice questioned and closed her eyes, enjoying the gently feeling of the Hatter's fingers in her hair.
"Because, when you wear this hat, I can't do this" he said and swung Alice up in his arms and kissed her gently. She wound her arms around his neck.
"Well that's definitely a bad quality for a hat to have" Alice muttered and stroked his top hat.
"Luckily your hat doesn't enable me to do this" she said and kissed him once more.
"Yes, well I'm just incredibly lucky. To possess this hat as well as you" the Hatter said and Alice smiled before putting her head on his shoulder. The Hatter carefully walked over to the large recliner and sat down, cradling Alice to his body and pulling a thick blanket over them.
Alice gently stroked the fur of the blanket.
"This is very soft. What is it?" she asked the Hatter looked down and stroked the fur which Alice was touching.
"This was made by my sister. It's fur of a killer Bandersnatch which plagued our village before it was brutally destroyed by the Jabberwocky" the Hatter said and Alice felt his body stiffen.
"That beast! That evil beast which was controlled by HER! That malevolent monarch, that grisly woman, DOWN WITH THE BLOODY RED QUEEN!" he growled and Alice touched his face.
"Hatter?" she asked nervously. "I'm fine," he muttered back. Alice studied his features with concern and pressed her lips against his softly. He smiled back and patted her head once more.
"Come on, we must try hats again. I make you presentable for our tea party this afternoon" the Hatter said and gently placed her on the floor. She laughed and touched his nose with one forefinger.
"A impossible task" she whispered and he wrapped his hand with hers.
"Nothing is impossible my dear. Nothing" he said and they smiled together and walked over to the desk.
