The exhaustion that has been taking him over, slowly and surely, little by little, hits him suddenly like a wave crashing over the rocks. Loud. Painful. Potent. He can't supress the yawn that decides to stretch itself out, and when his eyes water he blinks the drops away with a furious nature. He makes a mental note that it's only him who seems to be suffering from the ridiculous lifestyle he lives, and tucks the knowledge away for future reference, if necessary. He glances down at his trashcan, squinting at the cardboard cup settled in the creased plastic bag, and debates whether or not it would be worth the effort to renew his caffeine supply. He decides against it, and groans at the next wave of sleepiness as he becomes slightly light footed. Shooting a glance at his boss, he is extremely grateful for the sharp nod he gets in reply. With a moan, he slides off his chair and lands on the floor, sprawling out in an attempt to sleep. He cannot, though, he keeps thinking about the dumb hours he works. His thoughts drift to the fact that he hasn't slept in three days, and he wonders how everyone else is coping so well. He attempts to drift off again, but he is getting nowhere by the time he hears light footfall. He smiles into the scratchy carpet as a small person flops next to him, their back pressing into his. And then, only then, he sleeps.
The fearless leader is about to yell his team awake, but the sight of his probie drooling onto his keyboard makes him smirk, and he decides on getting him up later. He walks round to his Senior Field Agent's desk and can't help but smile at the sight of the two partners pulled flush with each other, the man's arm wrapped in a fierce gesture of protection, around his friend's arm. And part of the boss can't wait to see their reactions when they wake up. But he does wait, and decides that they can sleep longer. After all, they're just so damn cute.
