A/N: Lelouch's POV. Set after episode 15 of R2.

What Goes Up

C.C.

So deep
So mysterious

The wrong answers
The ignored questions

I had no knowledge
No power

She was helpful when it suited
Deadly if refused

An obstacle?
An enemy?
Or an ally?
A friend?

Someone to hate
Someone to love

Daily cruelty
Suddenly, no more

No more trouble
No more help

What goes up
Must come down

She's gone somehow
Lost in her mind

She has fallen
She won't get up

I can't reach her
Past this divide

But do I want to?

She rose to the top
Then came crashing down

I have her power
I have her freedom

I don't need her
I don't want her

I can do anything
Take those risks

This was my desire
Oh, sweet success

Well, then…

A/N: I don't know if the "well, then" was in the Japanese version of Code Geass or not. I just know it was super cool in the first episode when he killed all those people then said it. I wonder if anyone else remembers back that far…

My Code Geass poems are fun to write and I felt like it had been too long since I wrote one, so I racked my brains and came up with this one.

If anyone cares, I was listening to Linkin Park for inspiration. Particularly one part in 'Hit the Floor.' It goes:

"I know I'll never trust a single thing you say

You knew your lies would divide us but you lied anyway

And all the lies have got you floating up above us all

But what goes up has got to fall."
