Chapter One:

The Meeting

For the past six months dreams of a beautiful young woman with long blond hair, striking green eyes that sparkled like emeralds. And man with dark red hair and bright blue eyes. They stood together in each other's arms watching a little girl, a carbon copy of him playing with dolls. They were such a happy family.

Only the dream would shift into a nightmare as stones came crashing, flames licking at the heels of people running trying to get away. The woman ran to a being clad in blue saying something to them, then handing the little girl to them. A bright light shimmered a door like opening appeared as the being in blue holding the little girl disappeared from sight leaving the woman crying in a burning city. Waking up sweating, confused as to where I am. Tears stung my eyes feeling my heart breaking.

Getting out of bed going right into the shower to get ready for work. Today I had a meeting with my boss's son. She is a remarkable person but she also loves to play matchmaker. Smiling as I put on my jeans, my favorite black tank top and black blouse. Pulling back my waist length hair into a braid. Looking at my reflection as the dark circles under my eyes were getting darker. Sighing leaving the bathroom heading downstairs.

Grabbing my keys, my backpack, slipping my favorite pair of boots on, then headed for the door. Leaving my apartment hearing something, almost like a woman's voice. "Be strong my child. Come back to me." Looking around not seeing anybody around. Shaking my head going down the stairs.

In the parking lot hearing another voice but this time it was a man's. It was in some other language chanting. Having a feeling as if I was being pulled towards the river that runs behind the apartment buildings. Heading over to the bridge, gazing over the side at the water, faces appeared alongside my own reflection. Blinking then rubbing my eyes looking back at the water it was just my reflection. "Weird." Shaking my head turning to leave when the feeling of someone pushing me. Losing my balance falling over the railing and into the ice cold river.

Struggled to reach the surface as I went deeper and deeper. The light of the sun was a speck on the surface. Letting out the last of my breath my vision darkened until completely blacking out.

Coming too as voices sounded distant started to become stronger when I heard. "What do you suppose she is?" Someone asked.

"I think she's coming too," another voice chimed in. Opening my eyes only groaning from the sun blinded me. Trying to sit up someone helping me. Rubbing my hands over my eyes as my vision started getting clearer. Kneeling in front of me were two men dressed in strange clothes. One had blond hair and a braided mustache. The other was a brunette with mostly stubble on his good looking face.

"Where am I?" Asking them looking around noticing the apartments were gone. Surrounding us was a vast forest alive with the sound of birds. Something about this place that felt...well right. Trying to stand only for my knees to buckle causing me to fall into the brunette's arms as he caught me.

"Woah, there lass, take it easy." Helping me sit down again.

"We are on the outskirts of the Shire. We thought you were dead just floating in the river. What is your name girl?" The blond asked me as he poured something into a metal cup handing it to me.

"Thank you. I'm Alison Donahue but call me Ali." Taking a sip, hissing at the bitter taste of the liquid. "Thanks for saving me..."

"Fili,"

"And Kili,"

"At your service Lady Ali," saying in unison. Blushing as they called me Lady Ali. "So what were you doing in the river?" Fili questioned.

"What are you wearing?" Kili asked looking me up and down. Looking down at my soaked shirt and jeans. My boots were missing, 'must have kicked them off trying to swim.' Thinking to myself.

"I was on a bridge when something or someone pushed me into the water. Other than that I'm not sure how I even got here." Looking around the forest not even seeing any type of modern civilization. "These are my clothes just like what you're wearing. Um…not to seem rude but what are you?"

"We are dwarves. What are you?" Kili asked.

"Human I think." Placing a hand to my head.

"We need to be going Kili," Fili instructed looking at the sun.

"We can't leave Lady Ali alone. Come with us to the Shire." Kili exclaimed helping me stand again. Looking around having no clue where I am and not wanting to be alone.

"Would there be someone there that would help me figure out why I am here?" Asking them as I noticed my bag a few feet from the river's edge. 'Glad that my bag is still here.'

"Yes the wizard Gandalf the Gray will be there. He is wise beyond his years. He might be able to help you," Fili said. Nodded as everything was picked up and we started on our way.

Finally reaching the inner Shire it had grown dark out and the moon was our only light source. Kili and Fili stopped at a door built into the side of the hill. They rang the bell as it opened there standing in the door way was a small man who didn't look happy to see us. "Fili."

"And Kili."

"At your service," they said in unison. 'They must do that all the time.' Thinking to myself.

"You must be Mr. Boggins," Kili smiled at him.

"Nope you can't come in, you've come to the wrong house." The man said trying to shut the door.

"What has it been canceled?" Kili asked worriedly.

"No one told us," Fili interjected looking at his brother then at me. I just shrugged my shoulder as he looked back at the man.

"Canceled? No, nothing has been canceled," shaking his head at them.

"That's a relief," Kili took this opportunity pushing past the home owner. Taking my hand pulling me behind him as Fili came in after me.

"Who is she?" He asked pointing at me just as his arms were loaded with Fili's weapons.

"Alison Donahue. But call me Ali." Giving him an awkward curtsy. He nodded towards me arms loaded with weapons.

"Careful with these I just had them sharpened."

"Nice place you have here. Did you build it yourself?" Kili asked starting to wipe his boots off on Mr. Boggins belonging.

"Kili?" Scolding him who only smirked at me. Then another dwarf came over. He was bigger and buffer then Fili and Kili with a long black beard, a balding head with tattoos.

"Fili, Kili come on give us a hand." He boomed making me somewhat nervous.

"Mr. Dwalin," Kili called adoringly.

Going further into the house as more and more dwarves piled into the un-expecting Mr. Boggin's home. "Gandalf." Hearing him say making my ears perk at the sound of the Wizard's name.

As the dwarves where making themselves at home as I introducing myself to each and every one. They grabbed the food as Bilbo (I finally found out his name and it wasn't Boggins but Baggins) running around the place trying to keep his food in the pantry. Everyone was taking out what they wanted to eat ignoring the frazzled Bilbo. Taking a seat in an armchair as I watched Gandalf naming off everyone. Then he saw me for the first time that night.

"I do believe I don't know you," he said shaking my head. "Well pray child what is your name?"

"Alison Donahue but call me Ali. I am in need of your service Gandalf the Gray. I am not sure how I got here. Please listen to me?" I asked. Nodding as I was about to tell him what happened when my arm was grabbed by Kili and pulled me into the room with everyone. He sat me next to himself and another that was Ori.

Kili and Fili filled a plate setting it in front of me telling me to eat while I could. Fili set a cup in front of me picking it up smelling the liquid revealing it as ale. Not being a big fan of the amber liquid looking at Bilbo. "Can I have some water please?" Yelling over to him. He nodded and got me some water.

"At least someone has some manners," he said as I smiled and the others laughed. He handed me the glass taking a sip. Picking up a roll munching on that. Everyone was enjoying themselves as they toasted, everyone started to drink. Watching in horror as they were spilling more than they were drinking all over themselves. Even Kili and Fili were the same way. Sitting there just sipping my water, continued to nibbled on my roll.

Once dinner was done getting up taking my plate to the kitchen to wash them. When Ori asked Bilbo what to do with his plate. I was about to take them when Fili took them from us. "Here you go Ori give 'em to me." Then proceeded to throw them to Kili.

"Hold on I can take them." I paled as Kili caught them then tossed them into the kitchen.

Stomping and clanging noises could be heard in the other room as the others were doing something with the silverware. "Don't do that you'll blunt them." Bilbo cried out.

"Ooh do you hear that lads? He said we'll blunt the knives," Bofur joked. Everyone started to sing and play instruments they dug out of their packs.

Blunt the knives and bend the forks!

Smash the bottles and burn the corks!

Chip the glasses and crack the plates!

That's what Bilbo Baggins hates -

Cut the cloth and tread the fat!

Leave the bones on the bedroom mat!

Pour the milk on the pantry floor!

Splash the wine on every door!

Dump the crocks in a boiling bowl;

Pound them up with a thumping pole;

And when you've finished, if any are whole,

Send them down the hall to roll!

That's what Bilbo Baggins hates!

Some dishes came flying at me, ducking and dodging several times so they won't crash in my face. When all the dishes were done flying Bilbo rushed into the kitchen me right behind him. Seeing everything piled and clean without a chip or crack in any of them. The looks on Bilbo's and my face must have looked priceless as everyone laughed.

Feeling quite exhausted turning to go sit down when loud knocks came from the front door as everyone got quit. "He is here." Gandalf said looking at everyone. Looking at Gandalf I suddenly grew nervous.

A/N: Hi everyone it's been a while. I have been thinking about doing a rewrite on here. Please read and enjoy the new corrections to the story.
