Don't Back Down
May 25th, 2010. The final two. Lee Dewyze and Crystal Bowersox. Battle it out to the death. And America would decide who would win the title and be the American Idol.
It was ten minutes until showtime. Crystal and Lee were backstage, with all the other idols for moral support. Crystal had no fear. She knew her three songs, was confident, and couldn't care less what Simon had to say. Lee, on the other hand, was a neurotic mess.
The clock was ticking. Ten minutes. Crystal was called over to her spot by stage left. The others cheered and she smiled and waved before leaving. Lee was called to stage right. He took a deep breath and made his way over to the spot.
Siobhan Magnus watched him go from her spot in the corner. When she was sure no one was watching, she stood up and followed him. She found him leaning against the wall, head in his hands.
Siobhan's heart immediatly went out to him. "Oh Lee..." she put her arms around him and held him close. For a second, the two just stood in silence.
"I'm okay," Lee tried to tell her, pulling away.
But Siobhan wouldn't buy it. He had been there for her during her elimination*, and she would stay there and support him in his time of weakness.
Siobhan pulled back and looked him in the eyes. "I know you can do it."
Lee just nodded.
"Don't doubt yourself. You have more talent than you know."
He nodded again, but she still saw doubt in his eyes. And again, she didn't buy it.
Siobhan grew firm. "Lee," she grabbed his shoulders. "Stay with me. You can do this!"
He shook his head this time. "I...I don't know!" Lee began to panic. "I don't think I can! Oh my God, what am I gonna do?"
"You're gonna go out there and sing!" Siobhan practically yelled. Exasperated, the girl yanked him closer and clamped her mouth over his. The kiss only lasted a few seconds before the Idol theme music began.
Siobhan pushed him away. "Go," she shoved him out the door. "And Lee?" she called after him.
He turned around.
Siobhan grinned. "Kick her ass."
Lee smiled and nodded, then stepped out onto the stage.
