The Point man and the Tech

AN: I don't own them. I only wish I did. As of yet I have no beta. Let me know if you're interested.

Arthur had met Jake by accident. They'd had the same advisor, a code name for a counselor, for their freshman year. For some reason Simmons, creepy guy that he is, always scheduled their appointments back to back.

Jake's appointment was always first but Arthur liked to be early, which meant they sat side by side on stiff, ugly chairs for ten minutes once a week.

It's not that either of them are trouble makers, they're not. The fact of the matter is that they're both too smart for their own good. They're teachers were always frustrated when they caught one or the other of them doing something that wasn't assigned. They were never together when the teachers had a problem since they didn't have a single class together, although they did share the same teachers. These teachers didn't like being corrected on a regular basis by teenagers or ignored either.

The first time they meet Jake tries to strike up a conversation. The blond and the brunet are both equally uncomfortable in the hard plastic chairs but that doesn't stop Jake.

"Did you know that cats can make one thousand different sounds and dogs can only make ten," Jake asks.

"Interesting," Arthur replies just as the secretary comes to usher Jake into Simmons' office.

They have three similar conversations in as many weeks. On the fourth week, things change.

"Is the only word you know interesting," Jake asks as he sits down next to Arthur.

"No," Arthur replies with a grunt.
"You're impossible," Jake replies with a sneer.

"No, just succinct," Arthur says with a slight smirk.

"It speaks," Jake gasps theatrically.
"Jake Jensen," the secretary calls.

"That's me," Jake groans.

"I know," Arthur says as Jake turns the corner. There's a moment of silence before Jake peeks his head around the corner.
"Hey! I never got your name," the blond calls. "It's Arthur," the brunette says. "I like that," Jake says with a sunny smile as the secretary gently pulls him around the corner into Simmons' office.

Two weeks later, Simmons has decided to try something different. Today the boys have an appointment together.

"What do you think this is about," Jake asks as they're led into Simmons' office. "I have no idea," Arthur replies.
