Summary- Claire thinks about Charlie

Spoilers- Mostly for "Special," and "Homecoming"

A/N– This is just my second fic, and my first "Lost" fic. Please comment to tell me what you think. I would love to hear what you have to say. Constructive criticism is appreciated.

Claire watched Charlie from afar as he strummed on his beloved guitar. It had been about a week since she had returned from wherever she had been taken. She hated that she couldn't remember anything that had happened to any of them. She couldn't help give the rest of them information on the location of the man that had supposedly taken her.

What she hated most though was the guilt she felt. The guilt that washed over her every time she looked into Charlie's eyes. She couldn't for the life of her remember what was so obviously there before.

Now Charlie would sit, with his face facing away from hers and softly play his guitar hours through the day. He had given back her diary two days after her arrival. She supposed he had read it. If he cares about her as much as his eyes seemed to show, she could expect he wasn't able to resist.

She didn't mind. What she wrote involving Charlie she didn't even remember writing. At least he could read what she did feel about him, before it was stolen from her own mind.

She wanted to hold him or comfort him, but she felt it would just add to the pain. Reminding him of what we could have been if I had remembered whatever we had before.

Sometimes early in the morning, after a night sleeping in the caves, she would see him watching her out of the corner of his eye. Even though she didn't remember him, Claire felt like she knew him as someone she could trust. Like she knew they had something before, and that Claire knew he would protect her.

The sad part of this memory loss is that Claire still remembered Thomas. Of course the one person who didn't deserve a place in her thoughts is one of the only things that she knew of her own life. If Claire could change things she would gladly erase all memories of Thomas, just to replace them with the few moments on this island that she had had with Charlie.

That way at least she could see Charlie smile again.
