A/N: This is just a short little fic I wrote while I was feeling sad. I hope you like. Probably just going to be a one-shot.

She walked into the lounge, the tears brimming in her eyes. She pressed her lips together tightly, to trap the sob that threatened to escape her. Carter was on the phone. She didn't quite know who it was, and quite frankly, she didn't care. She slowly walked to the bench, her arms folded. As she walked past the lockers, her eyes became flooded. She knew that she would be walking past his locker any second. Her arms began to tremble. Her legs then became numb. There it was, in capitalized, white letters:

KOVAC

Luka was dead. The words of that morning rang in her ears again. She felt her heart shatter for the umpteenth time that day. Her breathing became shallow. Her chest shook. Grieving beyond what she could handle, she took a seat on the bench, vaguely listening to Carter's conversation with an overseas operator.

He was gone. Luka..her Luka..was gone. Forever. He was never coming back. Never. The man she once loved. . .and still did. . . was dead. She would never be seeing his face. . his eyes. . his lips. . his smile . . ever again. She would never feel his arms around her again. Never be able to smell his sweet scent again. His thick Croatian accent would never flow through her ears again. The thought was unbearable for Abby. She remembered their tender hug they shared before he left. She remembered hearing his heart beat in her ear, his arms tightly wrapped around her. His scent traveled back to her. This made the pain even worse for Abby.

"Take care of yourself. . . I mean it. . ."

And he didn't. There was no holding back now. She let the tears fall. Some of them didn't touch her cheek. They just fell from her eyes and landed on her scrub pants. She shook her head gravely.

"Do you know what Luka's father's name is?"

Carter's soft voice pulled Abby from her thoughts. She took a second to process the question, then shook her head. Another pool of tears flooded her eyes. She let them fall. She still couldn't believe he was dead.

She loved him still. Everyone knew it, even Carter. But she didn't know if Luka knew. The thought sent another blow to what was left of her. She would never know now. He was gone. And he was never coming back.
