A/N: Fluffy Valentines Day thing I wrote for the heck of it. Although, it could happen at any point. I really wish it would, though... Sigh. Oh well.
I Knew There Was A Reason...
The entire JAG staff (minus the general) was sitting around a table, working on miscellaneous cases. The offices were being searched after a bomb threat was called in, although, as Sturgis mentioned, that was ridiculous, because "If someone got near here with a bomb we'd have gotten to them first." Therefore, they had commandeered a table at a nearby library and were writing statements.
Harm grabbed a folder from Bud and sighed. "It's days like this when I consider retiring and flying a biplane for a living."
Mac, at the other end of the long table, arched an eyebrow. "I think you'd get bored flying at such slow speeds." She smiled. "Then again, the way you fly, I doubt you'd be going much slower..."
Everybody laughed except for Harm. "No, I mean, I really consider retiring." Everybody looked at him. "What? I can't do this forever, you know."
Sturgis spoke up for all of them. "Yeah, but I always assumed they'd have to drag you off kicking and screaming."
He shrugged. "Maybe, maybe not. It was a thought." There was a little small talk, and then they went back to work.
About half an hour later, Harm stretched. "What time is it?"
Mac, with her infallible inner clock, didn't even look up from her notepad. "1124."
Harm went back to his work. "I knew there was a reason I was in love with you." At this point, everyone else stopped to watch the exchange. Neither Mac nor Harm seemed to notice anything out of the ordinary.
"That and the fact that I'm irresistable."
"Yeah. Marry me?"
Mac didn't even crack a smile. "Sure."
Harm, still writing, used his other hand to pull a ring box out of his pocket and push it down the polished table to Mac. She opened it and slid the ring on her left ring finger without even looking at Harm.
"Guess I am retiring, then."
"Mmm."
At this point, Bud piped up. "Sir? Ma'am?"
They both turned to look at him. "Yes?"
"Do you realize you just got engaged?"
They both glanced at Mac's ring finger, then back at Bud. Harm sounded like he was stating the obvious. "Ye-es."
Sturgis blinked rapidly. "Are you two even dating?"
Mac shook her head. "Nope."
"And yet you're getting married."
"I guess so."
Bud put his hands to his ears. "I can't take this. I guess Harriet wins the pool, although I never expected it'd happen like this..."
Sturgis nodded. "I agree. It's mind-boggling. Would you like to take an early lunch?"
"Sure." Sturgis and Bud grabbed their covers and headed out the door. Mac grinned at Harm.
"Well, that was fun."
"Yeah." Harm dissolved into laughter. "Did you see the looks on their faces?"
Mac giggled, then gasped out, "And can you picture the looks on their faces when they find out we've been married for two months?"
Harm, still chuckling, made his way around the table to sit next to his wife. He kissed her quickly, then pulled his wedding ring out of his pocket. "Want to do the honors... again?" She took the gold band from him and slipped it on his ring finger. He helped her get hers off her dogtags and put it on as well.
"Come on, let's go find out who really won the betting pool." Mac kissed her flyboy thoroughly, and then they headed out to surprise their friends... again.
A/N: Ok, there we go. Out of my system. Fun!
