Wash away the thoughts inside
That keep my mind away from you
No more love and no more pride.
The thoughts are all I have to do.
Leafpool, Cinderpelt's apprentice came over to where the medicine cats meet every full moon. The tabby she-cat's tail was dragging.
"What's wrong, Leafpool, where's Cinderpelt?"
"She's dead."
Oooo..remember when it rained
Felt the ground and looked up high and called your name
Oooo...remember when it rained
In the darkness I remain
Littlecloud's world was swaying, Cinderpelt was dead. His Cinderpelt. He had always been unusually fond of the dark gray medicine cat, too fond for his own good. Leafpool looked at Littlecloud, her eyes soft.
"I'm sorry, Littlecloud, I know what she meant to you."
"You have no idea."
Tears of hope run down my skin
Tears for you that will not dry
They magnify the one within
Let the outside slowly die...
Littlecloud trudged home, the rain soaking his thin pelt.
"It isn't fair!" The tom wailed to himself, "it should've been me."
"Littlecloud, don't say that."
The tom looked up and saw Cinderpelt, his lost love, standing in front of him.
"Cinderpelt! Oh, Cinderpelt, I've missed you so much!"
The dead she-cat only purred, her eyes filled with love.
"Littlecloud, I'm just the cinders of an old fire now, you must open your heart to others."
Littlecloud paused, his mouth half open, he was a medicine cat, he wasn't supposed to love.
"No, Littlecloud, you must open your heart towards being a medicine cat; this is what StarClan destined for you."
Littlecloud bowed his head and when he brought his head up again, Cinderpelt was gone.
Oooo..remember when it rained
Felt the ground and looked up high and called your name
Oooo..remember when it rained
In the water I remain...running down.
Running down, running down
running down, running down,
running down, running down,
Littlecloud continued his journey home, Cinderpelt's words echoing again and again in his head.
"I'm just the cinders of an old fire. Just the cinders of an old fire."
He just couldn't take it much longer, the tabby tom sank onto the rain soaked earth and cried;
"Cinderpelt!"
ahhhhhhhh...running down
