Distortions

By SMYGO4EVA

She must've seen herself in the mirror maybe once in her lifetime, because the image she saw wasn't what she would see everyday. There was a dragon, in its white and sapphire glory, behind her. The fanged maw of a fate destined upon her and the foreboding stature of the gods themselves. The creature with blue eyes and white form was herself, or inside her body. Chosen as its vessel to keep itself in dormant slumber before the resurrection of might corporeal to the world would come to pass.

Afterwards, she would see something more horrific. A demon. A demon whose vengeance and lust overpowered him, giving him a more reasonable chance to forsake love and other human beings. With the snake-tail of brutality and the body of a man to complete itself, although not fully human enough, those who oppose it, especially to its master, never know the weaknesses the monster, of what humankind has become.

The two beasts would bare their fangs and smash their claws right at each other, teeth biting onto the other's neck before the boiling blood would spill. Their glorious bodies littered with newborn scars, their faces stained of their own blood and the wings blackened and tainted red by the fates they chose to bear. She backed away from the mirror, simply horrified by the image she saw, her white dress flowing underneath her as she kneeled on the cold floor. Her silver hair fell past her face, clouding her thought process, the images replaying in her mind over and over. Her blue eyes wavered. The distortions would become reality any time now.
