Legend of Zelda:

Darkwind

Many have heard of the story of the Hero of Time, how he saved the fabled land of Hyrule from a dark sorcerer and restored the Golden Power. So, you will be spared a history lesson; we will speak of a new story. The Hero of Winds, who sailed the Great Sea, and defeated the ancient evil. Our tale begins on a remote island in a corner of the sea, called Outset…

Chapter I

The boy was only about seven years of age, but his hair was thick, unlike the other boys, and his was a striking blond color. Though the tradition has the male youths clothed in green at a later age, the story starts on this day because the child, Link, comes across a very important person.

Link was walking down the trail from his grandma's house, little Aryll right behind. "What are we gonna do today, brother?" the girl asked Link. "Let's go down to the beach," He suggested. "Maybe we'll find some cool shells or something." Aryll clapped her hands together; she thought that sounded fun. However, they walked nearly the entire stretch of the beach without finding a single seashell. As they approached the western edge of the sand, Link saw a dark shape on the beach, much bigger than any shell he'd ever seen. "Hey Aryll, what do you think that is?" He inquired. "I don't know brother, but I'm not getting near it." She shook her head vigorously, her yellow pigtails flying back and forth.

"Fine," The boy said. "I'm gonna go check it out." He inched closer to the mass, as details became clear. It was covered in ragged cloth, and seemed to have a black clump stuck on one end. But, as Link got nearer, he recognized it as a person. It was a boy, probably not much older than he. He was breathing, to Link's relief, but he looked in bad shape. His lips were cracked; his flesh was pale, and his breathing shallow. He needed help, and fast.

"Aryll, go get Grandma!" He called to his sister. "This guy needs help, now!" And so, Aryll ran as fast as her little legs could carry her. Upon reaching the house, her Grandma opened the door, and saw the distress on her face.

"What's the matter Aryll, and where's Link? He's supposed to be watching you," the elderly woman asked. The girl grabbed her hand, and pulled her along. "Link's alright, but there's another boy, he needs help! Come on!" When Grandma found Link and the washed up child, she moved to assist them.

"Link, go find Orca, he can carry this boy. Aryll, look for Sue-Belle, we need drinkable water, fast." The both ran off without hesitance, understanding the gravity of the situation.

After a few hours watching and waiting, for the mysterious child to wake, he finally opened his eyes with a groan. "Where am I? How'd I get here?" He asked groggily, still waking up. "You washed up on our island, honey," Grandma told him. "We carried you here from the beach." The black haired youth looked around within the cottage, seeing nothing familiar.

"What is your name, young one?" The woman asked. He slowly shook his head. "I… don't know. I can't remember anything... Wait. I do remember something. Shade... I think it's my name."

"Well, Shade, how about you live with us? We can take care of you here, with Link and Aryll," the elder offered. "Until you remember where you came from." A small smile formed upon his lips. "I'd like that, very much." The four people in the room beamed, as Shade already felt like he belonged here. This felt like home.

[Hey readers! Sorry this chapter was short, but we all gotta start somewhere, huh? We'll get to action and whatnot soon, just need to get the emotional gunk over with. If you like what you've read, or if my style could use improvement, go ahead and say so. Until next time! Creativenone]
