Chapter 1:
"Whoa Sugar Pep." Anna Fincher told her 5 ½ year old mare. She was working with for the Serenity (a cutting horse event.)
"Oh hey Anna, what are you doing? It's almost dark." Her long time neighbor/ best friend Andrew Ragland asked.
"I know, but the Serenity is this week and I'm just working some more with Sugar Pep. Are you riding in it?" Anna asked.
"No, I talked dad into letting me bull ride in the rodeo next week."
"You did WHAT?"
"Wow Anna, calm down, I didn't think this is how you would react when I told you."
"I'm sorry Andrew, its just, I've been meaning to tell you this for a while now, I love you."
"Anna, I love you too, I always have. Ever since you came back from living with your Aunt Hannah after your accident."
"Don't remind me."
Anna started having flash backs of the terrible accident she had when she was only 12 years old. She was working with one of her horses that she was going to ride in the Serenity (she started this even when she was 10). The horse she was working with was named Bagel Boy. He took a turn to sharp to keep the calf from going back to the herd and Anna lost her balance and fell. She got lucky though, she had two broken ribs and a concussion. After that her dad sent her to live with her Aunt Hannah in Missouri. A few months after her 15th birthday, she talked her dad into letting her come back to Texas for good.
"Well now that we have confessed our feelings, what happens now?" Anna asked Andrew.
"Will you go out with me Anna?"
"Yes Andrew, I will." All Anna could do was smile happily at the thought of her and Andrew dating.
"I love you Anna, but I have to go home."
"I love you too Andrew, good night."
With that Andrew kissed Anna good night then rode his mare Our Dear Girl (or Girl for short) home.
