A/N: Short lil one shot. You are forbidden not to review! I would love to know what you think and if it's even worth it

Thanks x

For days he lay in his hospital bed. Broken, bleeding and sore, he could not move or talk or even open his eyes.

Most people couldn't, after falling 50 feet of a broom.

There was an intake of breaths, gasps, as it happened and he landed with a sickening crunch. There was silence for one single second before people sprung into action, students screaming, shouting in panic, Professors attending to him briskly.

Lily witnessed it all. With her heart beating so fast it almost jumped out of her throat, she remembered her last words to him.

Why are you being like this James?

She shudders, remembering his words to her.

I tried my best to hide it Lily but I can't. All this change, it was for you! And you don't even care

Lily let a tear escape her eyes as she remembered how, as she turned away and went down the corridor she heard him say three words. Three strong powerful words in a mere whisper.

I Love you

And she had run away. Lily Evans had run away. She had pushed it to the back of her mind, for 2 weeks, always delaying the moment where she would have to say what was on her mind.

But now she might not even get the chance.

Angry now, her tears began to flow harder, frustrated, and annoyed. She was on the floor now taking gasping shuddering breaths but only breathing in ice.

It was a quarter hour of sobbing before she left for the hospital wing. And she has been there ever since.

She witnessed him getting worse, then better, and then worse again.

She refused to leave his bedside; she held his ice cold hand in hers.

Occasionally she let a few tears escape her, but she held strong. She held strong for him.

When James Potter woke up, the first thing he saw was Lily's worried eyes above him. He blinked rapidly and groaned as he hurt. Everywhere.

Relief flooded through Lily's face as it broke into the widest smile he'd ever seen.

I Love you too

Many years later Lily Potter lay in bed with her husband James snuggling up tight with him and tracing a scar on his arm.

"Why don't you get this removed?" she asked curiously, still tracing.

"Lily!" James said shocked yet fondly, "this scar has too many memories to part with," he explained, wisely nodding his head,

Lily laughed pleasantly, a big smile etched on her face.

To be honest, a day hadn't gone by when she hadn't laughed since she declared her love to James by that bedside.
