The Softness of Her Skin

Prologue

She missed her chance, and she hated herself for it. And it was probably her last chance. No, it was her last chance. How could she do anything about it? The only she could do is run away, again, and go tell him. But what good would that do, anyway? He didn't love her.

Toph sighed heavily again, annoying Katara.

"Toph, if tell me nothing's wrong, I'm gonna hurt you." Katara said, with a hint of sarcasm in her voice.

"Well, it's true!" Toph objected, throwing her right arm in the air.

"Then stop sighing!"

"Stop arguing, we're here!" Aang yelled, just before Toph threw a come-back at Katara. He pulled on Appa's reigns, pulling him onto the ground. Toph threw her arms back over Appa's saddle, letting out a loud grunt. After a few seconds, she reluctantly stood up. She grabbed her bag, and jumped off Appa's back.

"See yah, buddy." She said to him as she rubbed his fur. Appa let out a happy grunt, as if to say Goodbye. Momo flew down and landed on Toph's shoulder. "I'll miss yah, too, Momo." Toph said as she rubbed his head and he let out a satisfied chirp.

Katara an Aang followed, jumping off Appa's back and running towards Toph. Katara threw herself towards her, grasping her small body tightly.

"See yah, Toph. I'll miss you." She lamented.

"I'll miss you, too." Toph replied, just as Katara let go of her.

"A-and listen. About all the times I ever said anything out of term about you-"

"Stop. It's ok. I know you didn't mean. Neither did I."

Katara smiled, and let out a small laugh. "Good luck."

"You too." Toph mumbled. Then she turned to Aang, and ran towards him.

"Bye, Toph." Aang blurted. "I'll really miss you."

Toph punched him in the arms once they let go of each other. "You too, Twinkle-toes."

Katara walked over towards Aang, and put her arm around his shoulders. It wasn't written in stone, but they were looking more and more like a real couple each day. "Don't get in trouble." Aang said.

"And don't forget to write." Katara rejoined.

"You too." Toph smiled, and turned around. She waved once more in the air, and eventually disappeared.
