Once upon a time,
In a land far away,
A little girl,
Played a game.
She played all day
She played it whenever it was bright.
This little girl,
Would be a knight.

And when it came,
For her to decide,
Whether to tat lace,
Or to learn to fight,
She planned, prodded and examined her face.
She found she was like her brother,
And with a few chats,
Cut off her hair,
And that was that.

She would be a knight,
Noble and glorious,
And she would show all those stiffs,
Who would be victorious.
She'd win every battle,
And serve the crown,
This young girl,
Wouldn't let her King down.

So she went to Corus,
The capital city,
She learnt how to fence,
And how to be witty.
She won many a heart,
As a page and a squire.
But one thing's for sure,
She never did retire.
She fought on and on,
While others died.
Trusting the Lioness to save their behinds.

Even now as she surely must be dead,
That medieval girl,
Which for whom we have said:
She is the Champion,
Our hero, our idol.
Forever living in our hearts,
Until we too retire.

She'll be there, waiting, with Jon and George.
Fighting for us, against Roger the spurge.
Thayet too will be there,
Telling Alanna, by the gods, to do something with your hair.
Gary, Raoul, keeping the peace,
Yet pummeling someone if they dare speak
Against her, her wishes or her desires.
She has a will like a fire.

They all love her,
In their own way.
And hope that she might not die so soon or that someone will take her away.

We all wish that, too our very souls.
Yet know the time will come,
When she will be no more.
She lived alongside us, laughing and learning.
We'll always watch out for her and continue yearning,
That Tamora Pierce will write more on her.
Tell us of adventures that she holds inside of her.
Tell us of the fabled Lioness,
And how she beat the rest
In swordplay, lancing and sometimes even Shang.
We hope that when she must leave us she will leave with more than a big bang.
