A/N Yay, another story. This time I tried to focus less on the relationships themselves and more behind how Tsukasa's upbringing affected his relationships because let's be honest, when you grow up like he did, love is probably one thing that's very foreign. That and I still wanted Rui to win =D
Disclaimer: I own nothing.
He had always been told that the world was his to take. Nothing and no one could stand in his way, as long as he had the family name behind him. One word was enough to have all those before him tremble and it had always been that way. Doumyoji Tsukasa never wanted for anything except one; love.
As a child, he had longed for the love of his parents, who were never home and always busy, "Securing your future, Tsukasa. Because this is all going to be yours and we're making sure it's ready for you." He could have cared less about the company, and would rather have given it up so that he could see his parents. But as he grew up, he accepted that the company was the sole reason he got to see them once a year during the company anniversary. And he slowly learned that without the Doumyoji Corporation, he was nothing.
In high school, he longed for Tsukushi's love; even when he didn't know it. She brought back fond memories of Tsubaki-of the little love he had received as a child. And he thought, "If I want, I get and I want her." But when she rejected him, threw all those years of whispers out the window, he was shocked.
When she finally gave in and they began dating, he couldn't have been happier. But in his heart, he couldn't help but think that there really was nothing that wasn't his for the taking. In the end, even the most stubborn of things gave in and became his. But before he could dwell on it for too long, he learned the honest truth from her; "I'm sorry Tsukasa, but I can't be with you anymore. I can't keep lying to myself." When he found out she had left him for his best friend, the pain had been terrible. And as wave after wave of childhood memories washed over him, as whisper after whisper of, "It's all for you," and, "You can have anything," threatened to drown him, Tsukasa cried because he knew he had been told lies for so long.
But seeing her happy and watching as everyone went on enjoying themselves, he came to accept the truth. Love was the one thing he couldn't demand when he wanted, but happiness was something he could. As he took over the company and made it even greater, he accepted that while most of the world would cower before him and the legacy that was his family; somethings never gave in.
