Obi-Wan stood in front of the council, looking slightly sheepish.
"Come here, why have you, Obi-Wan?" Master Yoda asked, sitting on his council chair, and staring at Obi-Wan, making him feel like an insignificant creature.
"Um...well..." Obi-Wan trailed off. "I was thinking... perhaps it would be better for the boy to be trained with the rest of the younglings his age?" His last words came out more like a question than the statement they were supposed to be. Sith, that had sounded so much better in his head!
Kit Fisto, Ki-Adi-Mundi, Depa Billaba, Mace Windu, Plo Koon, and Yoda looked amused, while everyone else looked a bit shocked.
"Give back your padawan you want to, hmm?" Yoda questioned.
"Well, er, not exactly," Obi-Wan muttered. "I just think it would be better if Anakin were to be raised by someone with a bit more...experience than me. Maybe Master Unduli or something. She seems to be good with padawans."
"So you do want to give back your padawan?" Depa Billaba asked, trying to hide her smirk. "Obi-Wan Kenobi, you of all people should know that once you take a padawan, they cannot be given back as if they were simply a borrowed cloak!"
Obi-Wan frowned. "But you see, he doesn't listen to anything I tell him!"
The Masters all looked at each other, sharing a bemused smile.
"Go back to your quarters, Obi-Wan. Your padawan is waiting for you." Kit Fisto said.
"But he hates me!" Obi-Wan yelled, "Yesterday, he managed to accidentally throw out half of my robes!"
"Get angry, you should not, Obi-Wan," Yoda said. "Anger leads to the dark side. And a child, your padawan is."
"You were the one who insisted on taking him as your padawan," Mace Windu had to add. Obi-Wan glared.
"I didn't realize how many rules he would break!" Obi-Wan insisted.
"Trouble with our padawans, we have all had, Obi-Wan," Yoda said. "Worried I would be, if no trouble you had." The other masters murmured in agreement.
"When I first got my padawan," Kit Fisto said. "He refused to go to sleep on time."
Soon the other masters all joined in with stories of their own undisciplined padaeans.
"When Depa was a padawan," Mace Windu saod. "She once ate an entire bag of sweets in one sitting, and got sdsdo sick that she had to spend three days in the medbay!"
"That's nothing!" cried Ki-Adi-Mundi. "One of my old padawans accidentally cut down a door with her lightsaber!"
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. "Master," said the small voice of Anakin. "When are you coming back? I finished the meditation you gave me."
Obi-Wan turned to the council. "Now if you'll excuse me," he said. "I have a padawan to look after."
