She'd never thought that it would end like this.

No she had always hoped that the Jewel would grant her wish, that Inuyasha and the gang would be free of their many curses.

But there had always been that nagging doubt, floating at the back of her mind. The whispering that it wouldn't work, that it would all end in blood shed.

Now she knew.

She understood that the fight between good and evil would never end.

The Jewel couldn't stop evil, it was part evil. Instead it could simply enhance. Enhance good, or evil.

It wasn't good but it was neither evil, it simply was and would forever be.

"Why?" She whispered brokenly, her dark eyes blurred as tears filled them.

"WHY?!" She screamed clutching the broken remains of the Jewel.

"Because, it wasn't meant to be" A gentle whispered breathed, she knew it wasn't real that she'd imagined it but yet she couldn't help but feel stronger.

"They didn't deserve to die" She said, her fingers toyed with the Jewel before allowing it to cascade to the bloody ground.

"No one deserves death and yet we all meet it in the end" She stood numbly, blood, their blood seemed to cling to her very breath. She knew that not all of the blood was theirs she knew, though she denied it that she was wounded.

"You don't need to be strong any more"

"But I need to stop Naraku"

"No, you need to sleep" Gradually she sank to her knees, her eyes fluttered uncertainly.

"I can't sleep now; it's too cold to sleep"

"Sleep" The calming whisper was so inviting and so comforting.

So she stopped fighting she allowed her eyelids to flutter shut, she allowed her conscience to drift away.

And by that time her heart had started to beat irregularly and her breath was coming harder and harder. She knew she needed to fight but the whisper kept telling her not too, so she didn't.

And now she can't breathe and she is dying. But it didn't matter she can see her friends beckoning her to come, and so she does.
