L Lawliet—the world's greatest detective—has never felt something as ridiculous as "love." It's impossible to feel that way, and even if he did, L would just shrug the feeling away, and get back to work. He can't be distracted with feelings. Especially since the death rates of Kira have been getting larger and larger. And since he is almost positive that Light Yagami—son of Soichiro Yagami—is the mass murderer, who seems to have magnificent powers to be able to kill people, just by seeing a name and face. But he has no proof that Light-kun is Kira. Sure, he's got the brains, and sure, the dates lead to his schedule, but besides that, the world's three greatest detectives have nothing on Light. But, he is still a suspect. Which is why L (Ryuuzaki) had chained both of them together, by handcuffs.

This is when the strange feelings started to appear.

"God dammit, Ryuuzaki, would it kill you to not eat sweets?" Light Yagami groaned, staring at Ryuuzaki, who, at the moment, was eating yet another piece of strawberry cake. It was probably his… fifth piece of cake that hour.

Ryuuzaki shrugged. "It would be impossible for me to die without sweets, Light-kun, but I would have frequent withdraw symptoms, such as… well, let's just say that the consequences are great. In a most horrible way."

Light shrugged. "How horrible could…" then Light though about it. Ryuuzaki without cake is like Ryuk without apples. If the consequences are great in a horrible way, then he might not want to know what he is like without cake.

Yet, his curiosity is great…

"I bet you can't go a week without eating sweets!" Light declared.

Ryuuzaki spun around in his chair, facing the auburn haired teen. "Light-kun, don't you think that that is a bit strange of you, testing my weakness? It is very Kira-like…"

Damn him! I'm not Kira!

Light sighed. "Ryuuzaki, I'm not Kira. Never have, and never will."

The detective put his thumb to his lips, and stared at Light, as if think about the possibilities of Light being Kira—which he wasn't!

Ryuuzaki shrugged. "Maybe you are, maybe you aren't. But I can't be certain that you are telling the truth, Light-kun. You could very well be telling me false information."

"But I'm not!" Light groaned, facing the computer screen.

At least, I think I'm not…

Ryuuzaki pondered over Light's challenge. Could he go a week without eating anything sweet? But Light-kun said cake, not sweets in general. He can't do it… Can he?

But refusing the challenge would be like losing to Kira. And Light is Kira. Or at least… L thinks he is. No. Light-kun is Kira, and that is final. So L can't back down, right? Right. He has to accept the ridiculous and torturous challenge.

"I accept your silly challenge, Light-kun," he said monotonously. "And I assure you, I can and will go a week without eating anything sweet. Not just cake, but everything sweet."

Light gave L a smug grin. "Alright then, Ryuuzaki, tonight, at midnight, starts your week without sweets."

L nodded. "Matsuda!" he called out.

Matsuda came running in. "Y-Yes, Ryuuzaki?" he asked excitedly. Maybe Ryuuzaki would have something for him to—

"Can you please have Watari to bring me in two trays of everything that is sweet? I need to prepare for the long week ahead."

Matsuda sighed and raised an eyebrow. "What—"

"Just do as I say," L sighed, taking a sip of coffee.

Matsuda sighed. "Yes, Ryuuzaki."

Okay, that was the first chapter. . And I really hate it, but you know, it's the first chapter, so... :/
