A rush of green light flew from Bellatrix's wand and hit a small horned owl directly in the back of its head. The owl immediately dropped from the sky and landed onto the front lawn of Malloy Manor on its side, with a thud. The roaming peacocks paid no attention to it. The innocent owl lay there, like a rag doll, with an envelope still lying between its beak.

"What was that?" Bellatrix asked the boy that she was ashamed to have as a nephew, Draco, in a dark and suspicious tone. She peered at the letter which was in the owl's lifeless mouth.

Bellatrix leaned out of Draco's open room window to get a better look. His room was two stories above the cold ground, and an unpleasant breeze blew through the room. Draco was silent and stood away from the window, avoiding eye contact with his deranged aunt, and stared at his feet. He mentally cursed himself for his desperation, trying to send a letter to…

"Accio Letter." she said coldly, pointing towards the owl with her wand. The letter in the owl's mouth escaped its grip, and ascended to Bellatrix. She snatched it from the air and tore it open. The sound of concealed paper being ripped apart made Draco's heart beat faster, panic started to consume him. He was unsure how Bellatrix would react to what he wrote.

Bellatrix scanned the written letter with heavy-lidded eyes, occasionally glancing back up towards Draco, who was still looking down at his feet, scared. Draco's handwriting was messy and some words were extended with crooked lines of ink. It was as if he had an unsteady hand when holding the quill.

Her scowl turned into an arrogant smirk, followed by cruel laughter that mocked the letter. Her voice echoed throughout the room, possibly heard downstairs. She then held it as far away from herself as possible with her thumb and index finger, as if it were a bag of garbage.

"Who is this for?" she demanded. There was no name of the receiver anywhere on the letter. Her demented eyes bore into Draco's hidden ones.

"Look at me when I speak!" she said fiercely. Draco's breathing grew shallow and heavy as he raised his head and faced her.

"A love letter?" She sneered, waving the piece of paper in Draco's face. She took back her outstretched arm and began to read the letter out loud while pacing the room.

"I need you," she started, in a taunting, childish-voice. "I need you now more than ever… I pray you're alright and that someday, we can be together again." She finished, and carelessly dropped the letter. It surfed through the air before gently landing onto the hardwood floor.

"Incendio!"

The letter burst into flames, and Draco merely watched as his remaining hope for love burned to ashes. The flames could be seen flickering in Draco's sullen eyes. Bellatrix grinned madly, and abandoned the flaming letter, and left Draco to himself.
