Disclaimer: I don't own Tale of Two Cities

Sydney knocked on the door to Lucie's home in France Lucie opened the door.

"Sydney," she said, "Come on in. Thank you for coming here today. I really need a friend right now you know"

The trial... the sentencing for Charles... the way she had lost her cool like she did all told Sydney the same thing. It was true. Lucie did need a friend.

"Come now," he said, "It's alright"

"Do you think I'm a horrible person," Lucie asked, "I've never gotten mad before-"

"You are not a horrible person. You were overwhelmed," he said, "and you avoided acting hurtful which is something that you can be proud of. I was just wondering if there was anything I could do for you. Is there anything you need?"

"I... if there's a way you can save Charles... I know things are difficult right now. I swear if you can save him I will-"

"Never mind," Sydney said, "times being difficult. I will do anything I possibly can to save him."

Sydney knew what it would take. He knew that he would not be coming back alive. But he was glad that he was able to do for his love what he had always wanted to do. He was able to give her the love she knew back.
