A Walk Across the City
Today was her favorite kind of day, not a dark cloud to be seen nor sound of screaming to be heard. It was the kind of day that came rarely and Bubbles Utonium always cherished a day like this.
Since today was a specially rare peaceful day, it was to be expected that she would rather take a walk than fly over town.
Her bright blue eyes scans the place as a sad smile creeps across her face. She never noticed this when she was a child but, right now, she has seen it during her rare walks just how much the her town people has suffered and still is suffering.
Because of so many attacks, the city's economy is not that great despite how much the Mayor and big companies would convince anyone.
In her walks, she sees the pain of her fellow citizens. In her walks, she sees their struggles for survival. In her walks, she sees their starvation.
No wonder their city has the greatest crime rate in America. To steal is just one of their desperate ways of solving their poverty.
"Have you got any change to spare miss?" A child's voice disturbed her pondering.
The child's shabby appearance did not surprise Bubbles when she looked down to see the child's face but she was slightly worried over the large bruise the child is sporting near his left eye.
She crouched down to the child eye level and gave him a smile.
"How about I give something better?" She stifled a giggle at the child curiosity. " How about I'll treat you to come eat with me?"
She held out her hand and smiled at the child's excited grasp.
"Really Miss? You'd do that?"
She nodded before asking the child's name.
"Just Peter, Miss..."
"Bubbles, I'm Bubbles."
"Cool! You have the same name with one of the Puffs. She's my favorite out of all of them. She's just so ki-"
She has never been more thankful for her father's invention than with the "Disguise Pill", giving her the peace to walk in days such as this.
