Annabeth POV

When I got in the plane, strangely, I wasn't frightened at all.

It was my first flight, Luke and I were heading to San Francisco, back home. Chiron had insisted that I had to go home for the Christmas break. I didn't want to see my father though. I was only nine and I perfectly knew that my stepmother didn't want me to go back home.

Luke and I sat in the first row. I couldn't wait to see New York from the sky. I fastened my seat belt, then noticed that Luke was looking at me.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"Nothing Beth, just... A little scared, you know, first time..." Luke mumbled.

"I... I thought that-" I started, but strangely Luke cut in"My mother didn't have money for flights." When he said that I thought I heard a little bit of anger in his voice. I didn't say anything though. I just looked at the other passengers getting in the plane.

Between the crowd I saw a boy, of about my age, maybe younger, holding his mother's hand so tight that you culdn't see the end of his fingernails properly. His eyes were green, sea green and his hair was black and messy. Believe me, when I say messy that means really messy. I didn't see his mother properly, I don't know why but my eyes were focusing only on him, just him. They sat two seats away from us. I tried to focus on something else, but I couldn't.

Then the plane took off. From the sky I could see the whole city. Awesome, I thought, then I glanced at the boy for seeing him grabbing the plane's seat and closing his eyes so tight that I seriously was about to laugh. I wanted to shout something like " Don't worry, open your eyes!" or "Dude, don't be scared!" but nothing came out of my mouth.

I looked at Luke, he was sleeping. There wasn't anything else to do, so, I followed him, and of course, I had dreams!

I was in a truck, it seriously stank,I bet there were animals in , I realized that I was actually looking at two people in front of me. One was- Wait! Me? Yes, a grown up me with a guy that I didn't reconize because his face was covered by the shade. They were talking, but their voices were distant. I tried hard to listen and I could make out some sentences .

" I just know that I'll fight next to you" the grown up me was saying.

"Why?" the boy asked.

"Because you're my friend Seaweed Brain. Any more stuid questions?" I asked, uh, I mean, the other me asked.

After that everything started to spin around me and I woke up.

I had tons of questions spinning in my mind, but I didn't want to talk about it with Luke. I couldn't say,"Hey, there's another boy in my life" or something similar. But, Luke didn't know that I liked him, he was a big brother to me. I pushed aside all the stupid questions and answers and I looked out of the window.

"Luke!" I said punching him softly in the arm "Luke, we landed!"

"Ouch! Oh yeah we did, let's go!" He said while standing up.

While we were getting our backpacks I glanced at the boy for seeing him asleep too. His mum gently shook him and he woke up saying "Mum, I didn't have any nightmare!"

His mum smiled at him "Good" she said.

While we were getting out of the plane the boy bumped into me.

"Sorry" he mumbled.

"That's ok," I said "What's your name?" yes! I finally had the courage to ask him his name!

"Pe-" But he didn't have time to finish because his mum pulled him away.

I must have looked stupid, staring at the empty spot where he disappeared because Luke asked me "Do you like him?"

I wanted to shout that yes, I liked him, but instead I shook my head, then blushed, then shook it again.

"I think that you do like him" said Luke smiling.

But I didn't pay attention to what he said, because that boy left me with tons of questions spinning in my mind and my heart racing.
